All of our roles at Loop are onsite at our downtown Toronto office (Bay and Bloor).

Where You Come In

As a Software Developer at Loop, you'll help build the technology that powers modern global banking.

You'll work across the entire stack which includes building intuitive customer experiences, developing scalable backend services, designing APIs, integrating with banks and payment partners, and solving complex engineering challenges that directly impact thousands of businesses.

Depending on your experience, you'll contribute to everything from shipping customer-facing features to designing critical platform architecture. Regardless of level, you'll own what you build from idea to production and work alongside a small team of highly capable engineers who care deeply about building great software.

What Developers Do at Loop 

Build End-to-End Features

• Design, build, test and deploy features across the full stack—from customer-facing interfaces in React to backend services and APIs powering our banking platform.

Build Reliable Financial Systems

• Develop secure, scalable systems that power cross-border payments, banking infrastructure, ledgers, and integrations with financial partners.

Improve Customer Experience

• Create intuitive, fast and accessible user experiences while continuously refining workflows and improving usability across our platform.

Build Scalable Back-End Services

• Develop APIs and services that maintain strong consistency, high availability and performance while handling complex financial transaction flows.

Maintain Quality & Reliability

• Write automated tests, improve monitoring and observability, troubleshoot production issues, and continuously improve the stability and resilience of our platform.

Collaborate Across Teams

• Partner closely with product managers, designers and fellow engineers to turn ideas into well-designed technical solutions that balance customer needs with long-term maintainability.

Shape Our Technology

• Contribute to technical discussions, code reviews and architectural decisions. As you grow within Loop, you'll have increasing influence over the direction of our platform and engineering practices.

Learn, Mentor & Improve

• Share knowledge with teammates, provide thoughtful code reviews, stay current with new technologies, and continually improve both yourself and the engineering team.

What We’re Looking For

We're less interested in titles and more interested in exceptional developers.  You may be a great fit if you have:

• Experience building production web applications across.
• Strong software engineering fundamentals and a passion for building with ai tooling.
• Experience with ai stack and different languages application
• Experience building backend services, APIs, and working with relational databases.
• An understanding of scalability, security, performance, and reliability in production systems.
• The ability to solve complex technical problems and communicate your thinking clearly.
• A collaborative mindset and a willingness to both teach and learn from others.
• Curiosity, ownership, and the drive to continuously improve.

It's a Bonus if You Have

• Experience building FinTech, banking, payments, lending or financial services products.
• Experience with distributed systems and highly available architectures.
• Familiarity with secure coding practices and financial compliance requirements.
• Knowledge of accounting concepts or financial reporting.
• Experience with Ruby on Rails, PostgreSQL and React (although we're happy to meet great engineers who learn quickly).

What we offer

• Salary range CAD$130,000-$180,000 base annual, commensurate with experience
• Equity ranging 0.01-0.05%
• 3 weeks vacation

Interview Process 

• 30 minutes video call conversation with Yan, Head of Engineering
• 60 minutes in person technical discussion with 2 members of the Engineering team 
• Come do a working trial with us for 2-3 days (this will be paid)
• During the working trial, 30 minutes in person meeting with Cato, CEO and Co-Founder, and 30 minutes with Sarah, Chief of Staff 
• Background check and offer
