Creative Content and Design Specialist

The Lucile Packard Foundation for Children's Health, in partnership with Stanford Medicine and Lucile Packard Children's Hospital, unlocks philanthropy to transform health for children and families in Northern California - and around the world. Through fundraising and grantmaking, the Foundation drives scientific research, innovation, and policy change that will improve care, advance cures, and reform healthcare systems for this and future generations.  


MAIN FOCUS: A highly creative individual contributor, the Creative Content and Design Specialist will use multimedia design skills to develop compelling fundraising communications for the Transformational Giving (TG) Team. This position will report to the Senior Director of Strategic Communications and partner closely with the Senior Vice President of Transformational Giving, two Directors of Strategic Communications, and the entire TG team. The position will be responsible for leading the creation of personalized, high-priority communications initiatives that drive transformational gifts supporting pediatric research and clinical care. 


LOCATION: Palo Alto, CA (hybrid). This role is hybrid, with an expectation of working an average of eight (8) days per month in our Palo Alto office; the successful candidate will be based in the Bay Area.


WHAT YOU'LL DO... 

The Transformational Giving team inspires philanthropy among donors with the capacity to make gifts of $25 million+ in support of Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital Stanford and the child and maternal health programs at the Stanford University School of Medicine. To advance this work, our team creates compelling custom communications (proposals, reports, cultivation documents/emails, slide decks, personalized videos/websites, etc.). This role will produce dynamic digital communications that will engage donors in the hospital’s mission and ultimately lead to new gifts.

 

Reporting to the Senior Director of Strategic Communications, this role will lead digital communications, including graphic design, video filming and editing, presentation decks, photography, web design, and other content creation.


 The compensation range for this role is $105,000-$115,000 annually.


YOU'LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR...

Digital Communications

  • Create, and manage design projects for the Transformational Giving team, in partnership with gift officers, writers, and other team members
  • Partner and advise on creative ways to present content beyond a traditional written document; suggest and lead production for new avenues of capturing information that will inspire donors
  • These responsibilities will be accomplished through:
    • Collateral Design: Produce visually appealing proposals, white papers, slide decks, and other documents using Adobe InDesign, PowerPoint, and other design tools, with elements such as infographics, timelines, and simple animations
    • Video: Film and edit videos to engage and steward donors and other key stakeholders
    • Photography: Take photographs as needed (professional quality not expected, but should have basic photography skills to capture images that can be used in print/digital communications)
    • Web: Create custom websites to cultivate and steward donors
    • Digital Asset Management: Add final assets to our digital asset management platform
    • Event Design: Create branding for specific events and carry branding through in event collateral design, to include invitations, website, signage, etc.

 Project Management & Cross-Team Collaboration

  • Recommend new approaches, procedures, communication platforms, and processes to effect continual improvements in efficiency and quality of products
  • Balance multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced and busy environment
  • Work with partner teams to share resources in order to maximize assets gathered and created and ensure seamlessness of messaging throughout the organization
  • Work with print vendors to ensure high-quality execution of print materials/signage
  • Maintain positive professional relationships via email, phone, and in person with hospital staff and faculty, donors, and patient families, and maintain confidentiality when needed
  • Demonstrate excellent attention to detail and proofreading skills to produce error-free materials


YOU MUST HAVE...

  • Bachelor’s degree with 3-5 years relevant experience, or equivalent professional experience
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Proficiency in Adobe InDesign / Photoshop
  • Proficiency with video editing software and tools (such as Adobe Premiere)
  • Proficiency in photography
  • Ability to work independently in a team environment and demonstrate ownership and accountability
  • Expert design and visual communication skills
  • Experience working in a team environment with multiple stakeholders
