Interior Design Intern

About the role

MBS is looking for a motivated, design-driven intern to join our design team. This is a hands-on studio role in a dynamic, multidisciplinary environment, working directly on interior design projects alongside our designers — from concept development through to installation — with exposure to collectible furniture and contemporary art.

What you'll do

Design development

• Assist designers with concept development: mood boards, reference research, and visual presentations
• Produce and revise drawings in AutoCAD — plans, elevations, sections, and millwork details
• Build presentation decks and client packages in InDesign
• Develop 3D models and renderings to communicate spatial and material ideas
• Prepare finish and material schedules, and support the drafting of FF&E specifications

Materials & FF&E

• Source and collect material samples, keeping the studio's sample library current and well organized
• Research furniture, lighting, textiles, and finishes for active projects
• Prepare and maintain FF&E schedules and spec sheets
• Liaise with vendors and showrooms on lead times, pricing, and availability

Collectible furniture & art

• Research artworks and collectible furniture within our own inventory
• Support cataloguing in Artlogic, ensuring accurate records for sales and exhibitions
• Assist with condition reports for incoming furniture and artworks

Projects on site

• Attend site visits and client or vendor meetings, taking notes and site measurements
• Assist with styling and project installations
• Support the team with project documentation and general studio needs

What we're looking for

• Currently studying or recently graduated in Interior Design, Interior Architecture, or Architecture
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator)
• Working knowledge of SketchUp, Rhino, or 3ds Max is a strong plus
• Strong interest in and sensitivity to design, furniture, and contemporary art
• Highly organized, proactive, and independent, with a good eye and strong problem-solving skills
• Comfortable with Microsoft Office
• Fluent English
