Clinical Director – Occupational Therapist

Full-time | Fully remote | $110,000–$120,000 CAD | Benefits included

Help shape what exceptional virtual occupational therapy looks like for hundreds of kids across Canada.

Mud Club is a pediatric occupational therapy program built around gaming, community, shared interests, and the digital spaces where kids already want to be.

Our members connect through small-group therapy, Minecraft, VR, Clubhouse programming, and individualized supports. Behind those experiences is a growing team of OTs and OTAs working together to provide neurodiversity-affirming, strengths-based care that is engaging, meaningful, and clinically sound.

We’re looking for a Clinical Director to lead that clinical team and help us build the systems, standards, and practices that allow excellent care to scale.

This is a senior leadership role with direct reports.

What you’ll lead

You’ll have overall responsibility for the clinical quality and direction of Mud Club’s occupational therapy services.

That includes:

• clinical leadership across group, individual, and community-based programming;
• leadership, mentorship, and development of Occupational Therapists;
• standards for OT/OTA supervision and delegation;
• clinical policies, processes, and best practices;
• quality assurance, documentation, and continuity of care;
• complex clinical consultation and escalation;
• clinical risk management and professional standards;
• development and evaluation of new services;
• clinical staffing, capacity, and service planning;
• collaboration with families when higher-level clinical support is needed.

You won’t be stepping into a traditional caseload-heavy OT position. Your job is to make the whole clinical team stronger.

Clinical leadership matters here

Mud Club is intentionally different from many traditional pediatric OT environments.

Our therapy happens through Minecraft builds, shared gaming challenges, group conversations, VR experiences, collaborative problem-solving, and the relationships members develop with one another.

We’re looking for an OT who is curious about questions like:

• How do we maintain individualized, clinically meaningful care within a growing group-based model?
• What does excellent OT/OTA collaboration look like at scale?
• How do we measure progress when meaningful change may show up through participation, confidence, flexibility, self-advocacy, or connection?
• How do we maintain strong clinical standards without making therapy rigid or overly standardized?
• How can shared interests and digital environments create opportunities that traditional therapy settings sometimes cannot?
• How do we help clinicians make thoughtful decisions when there isn’t a simple protocol to follow?

You don’t need to be a Minecraft expert on day one.

You do need to be genuinely interested in understanding the environments where our members connect, play, and participate.

This is a leadership role. Developing people is a priority.

Strong clinical reasoning matters. Helping other clinicians develop theirs matters just as much.

You’ll be expected to:

• lead, mentor, and support Mud Club’s OTs;
• strengthen clinical reasoning and decision-making across the team;
• establish clear expectations while creating space for professional judgment;
• provide consultation when situations become complex;
• support performance development and clinical competency;
• strengthen OTA supervision structures alongside supervising OTs;
• partner with our Lead OTA & Trainer on onboarding, training, and ongoing professional development;
• identify patterns across the program and turn them into better systems, training, and supports.

We want someone who builds clinical capacity—not someone who needs to personally solve every clinical problem.

You’ll help build the clinical systems behind a growing organization.

As Mud Club grows, excellent care cannot depend entirely on individual knowledge or informal processes.

You’ll help strengthen:

• clinical SOPs and decision frameworks;
• documentation standards;
• supervision structures;
• clinical escalation pathways;
• competency and quality-review processes;
• member transitions and continuity of care;
• family communication standards;
• clinical onboarding and training;
• regulatory and privacy practices;
• outcome and quality-improvement processes.

The goal is not more process for the sake of process.

It’s to give great clinicians the structure they need to make thoughtful decisions consistently.

You’ll work across clinical, programming, operations, and technology teams.

Clinical leadership at Mud Club doesn’t happen in isolation.

Our Programming team develops the activities, resources, challenges, and experiences members encounter. Our clinical team ensures those experiences remain grounded in meaningful participation and strong therapeutic thinking.

You’ll work closely with Programming leadership and the Lead OTA & Trainer to provide clinical direction for:

• weekly themes and session programming;
• therapeutic tools and resources;
• scripts and facilitation approaches;
• new programs and services;
• Clubhouse and community experiences;
• member and family resources.

You’ll also partner with organizational leadership on staffing, service capacity, clinical risk, strategic planning, and opportunities for Mud Club to grow.

Innovation should interest you.

We don’t expect our Clinical Director to chase every new idea.

We do expect you to be curious.

Mud Club operates in virtual environments that continue to change quickly. Gaming, VR, AI, digital communities, and new technologies create both opportunities and clinical questions.

You should be comfortable learning unfamiliar tools, asking thoughtful questions about their use, and helping determine how innovation can support—or sometimes shouldn't be part of—good occupational therapy practice.

Who might be great at this?

You’re a Registered Occupational Therapist in Canada with significant experience supporting children and adolescents, ideally including neurodivergent youth.

You might currently be:

• a Clinical Lead;
• Clinical Manager;
• Senior Occupational Therapist;
• Practice Lead;
• Program Manager;
• Clinical Director;
• or an experienced OT ready to move into broader leadership.

Your current title matters less than your ability to lead clinicians and think beyond your own caseload.

You might be a strong fit if you:

• have excellent clinical reasoning;
• enjoy mentoring and developing other clinicians;
• understand neurodiversity-affirming, strengths-based practice;
• are comfortable supervising and supporting OT/OTA models;
• can navigate complex clinical and family situations;
• communicate clearly and thoughtfully;
• see patterns and build practical systems around them;
• can balance professional standards with innovation;
• enjoy collaborating across disciplines;
• are comfortable making decisions and being accountable for them;
• can zoom in to understand one member’s experience and zoom out to see what the clinical program needs next.

Experience developing clinical programs, competency frameworks, quality-assurance systems, or scalable healthcare services would be a strong asset.

Experience with virtual care, gaming, Minecraft, VR, or online communities is useful—but not required.

What you’re stepping into

Mud Club already has an established national virtual program, experienced OTs and OTAs, structured group programming, clinical supervision processes, staff training, and a growing library of clinical tools and resources.

You’re being hired to lead and strengthen an existing clinical function, not build one from scratch.

Your first job will be to understand the model, the members, and the people already doing the work. From there, we want you to identify what is working, where stronger clinical infrastructure is needed, and how Mud Club can continue growing without losing the individualized, relationship-focused care at the heart of the program.

The goal is to build a clinical function where great therapists → strong clinical systems → meaningful member experiences → excellent care happens consistently.
