The SAP Systems Analyst is the hands-on technical owner of SAP S/4HANA Public Cloud. This position bridges the gap between technical data management and functional system design.

The role combines the finance core (general ledger, close support, procure-to-pay, and user provisioning) with integration, data, and cloud administration work. The role works closely with Finance, Accounting, and business stakeholders to design, configure, and document new system functionalities, ensuring our SAP platform evolves to meet growing business needs.

Key Responsibilities

System Design, Integration, and Extensibility (approx. 30%)

  • Design, build, and operate integrations between S/4HANA Public Cloud and the broader landscape (billing, expense management, banks, payroll, and others) using SAP Integration Suite and SAP-delivered APIs.
  • Build side-by-side extensions on SAP BTP (SAP Build, CAP, SAPUI5/Fiori) and in-app extensions (custom fields, logic, CDS views, ABAP Cloud where permitted). Follow clean-core principles and use released APIs only.
  • Automate repetitive finance processes with SAP Build Process Automation (BPA) where it fits.
  • Gather and document business requirements with finance and business users, translate them into functional and technical specifications and standard SAP configuration.
  • Create and maintain documentation for architecture, configurations, data flows, and runbooks.
  • Take part in unit and integration testing of new configurations and developments; identify opportunities for optimization and process improvement.

Finance Systems, Close, and Procure-to-Pay (approx. 25%)

  • Configure GL accounts for the company codes, and manage the chart of accounts, ledgers, currencies, fiscal calendars, and multi-entity and intercompany structures.
  • Support period-end and year-end close, including the advanced financial close and reconciliation tools.
  • Review billing and payment feed exceptions and confirm that customer invoices and payments tie to the GL and open items.
  • Configure suppliers using SAP Build Process Automation (BPA), and support purchase requisitions and orders, invoice verification, inventory management, and supplier master data.
  • Partner with Accounting to validate migrated balances and sign off the results.

Data Management and Integrity (approx. 25%)

  • Support the transition of customer line items, AR aging, and deferred revenue from legacy billing systems into SAP, and validate the migrated balances.
  • Convert legacy billing calculations into SQL data pipelines and automate monthly line-item reconciliation (for example, in Python).
  • Own the interface between the billing system, the intermediary SQL database, and SAP. Build automated completeness checks that compare record counts, totals, and document numbers across billing, SQL, and SAP, and report and reload any missing records.
  • Oversee and refine existing data transformation (ETL) processes, particularly for the monthly financial close, to keep data accurate and on time.
  • Analyze and map data flows between SAP and other integrated business systems.
  • Support data governance by helping define and enforce data standards in SAP.

System Governance, User Access, Cloud Administration, and Support (approx. 20%)

  • Own user provisioning: new users, changes, and terminations, including business role assignment and timely removal of access. Maintain security roles, and support periodic access reviews and audit requests.
  • Manage Central Business Configuration (CBC), Cloud Connector, and BTP Cockpit integrations.
  • Manage communication arrangements, communication systems, credentials, and certificate renewals; monitor message flows and resolve failures.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for end-user support and resolve issues.
  • Assist with change control and configuration promotion between test and production tenants.
  • Support SAP release and patch cycles, including reviewing release notes, regression testing, and sign-off before production.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Accounting, Business, or a related field.
  • 5+ years in SAP systems analysis, enterprise integration, or development, with 2+ years on S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition.
  • Working knowledge of SAP Finance (FI/CO) and strong accounting fundamentals, including general ledger, close, and reconciliation processes.
  • Working knowledge of SAP procurement (MM), supplier master data, and SAP Build Process Automation (BPA).
  • Proficiency as an SAP BTP / Extensibility Developer: CAP, ABAP RAP, OData, JavaScript/TypeScript.
  • Strong SQL skills and a deep understanding of ETL concepts; Python for automating reconciliation.
  • Working knowledge of SAP Integration Suite, Central Business Configuration, Cloud Connector, and BTP Cockpit.
  • Experience with SOX controls, user access reviews, and external audit support.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with close attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills, including explaining technical concepts to non-technical users.
  • A drive to learn and master new technologies in the SAP ecosystem.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior hands-on experience with SAP S/4HANA Public Cloud, SAP BTP, and functional areas (e.g., FI, MM, FSCM).
  • Familiarity with business processes (e.g., financial closing, procure-to-pay, supply chain).
  • Experience with system testing or quality assurance (QA) methodologies.
