What you’ll do

As a Machinist II, you will be responsible for programming, setting up, and operating both CNC and manual machining equipment, with a focus on vertical milling systems using HAAS controls. You will work closely with Engineering, Quality, and R&D to ensure parts are produced with the highest precision, conforming to design intent, and delivered on time for prototype and production builds.

Machining Operations

• Set up and operate machining equipment used to manufacture permanent magnets and magnet assemblies.

• Perform cutting, grinding, surface finishing, and secondary machining operations to achieve dimensional and cosmetic requirements.

• Interpret engineering drawings, work instructions, and process documentation.

• Verify dimensional compliance using calipers, micrometers, height gauges, optical comparators, and other inspection equipment.

• Perform tool changes, machine adjustments, and routine preventive maintenance activities.

Magnet Processing & Manufacturing Support

• Clean magnets and assemblies to remove debris and contaminants generated during machining.

• Support magnet coating and masking operations as needed.

• Assemble magnetic components using fixtures, adhesives, and mechanical hardware.

• Package finished products according to quality and shipping requirements.

• Support reliability testing and evaluation of magnets and assemblies.

• Document production results, process observations, and quality data.

Process Development & Continuous Improvement

• Work closely with Engineering to improve machining processes, tooling, fixturing, and workflows.

• Participate in root cause and corrective action (RCCA) investigations.

• Assist with development and validation of new manufacturing equipment and processes.

• Identify opportunities to improve safety, efficiency, quality, and cost.

Safety & Quality

• Follow all safety procedures and safe handling practices.

• Maintain a clean, organized, and compliant work environment.

• Ensure products meet quality specifications and customer requirements

• Support 5S and continuous improvement activities throughout the manufacturing area.

What we’re looking for

• High School Diploma or GED.

• 2+ years of manufacturing, machining, fabrication, or related technical experience.

• Experience operating manual and/or CNC machine tools.

• Ability to read engineering drawings and follow technical work instructions.

• Experience using precision measuring equipment.

• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.

• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.

• Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office applications.

Nice to have

• Experience operating CNC mills, lathes, grinders, or similar equipment.

• Experience machining brittle materials, ceramics, magnets, composites, or other advanced materials.

• Experience with surface grinding and precision finishing operations.

• Experience with fixturing, tooling design, or process development.

• Experience with adhesives, assembly processes, or electromechanical products.

• Experience in coating, masking, cleaning, or other secondary manufacturing processes.

• Experience with quality systems, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement methodologies.

• Experience in a high-mix, low-volume manufacturing environment.
