PPA is an award-winning practice in traditional architecture, recognized as a leader in classicism and historic preservation. We are currently seeking an Associate to join one of the firm’s project teams. Our work ranges from houses and apartments to institutional and commercial work, including mid-rise residential apartment buildings. Our portfolio of projects has consistently expanded and includes books on American architecture as well as museum exhibition design. The ideal candidate will have a genuine passion for classical design, strong artistic ability, and the production skills to help carry a project from concept through construction.
Role Description:
· Be an essential part of a project team working on all phases of a design project from Pre-Design through Construction Administration
· Assist in developing design concepts, researching applicable historical precedent, and preparing presentation materials
· Produce drawings and models with direction from the design team and senior staff
· Assist in project coordination and the production of project documentation
· Assist with survey and analysis of existing site conditions
· Collaborate with the Project Manager and senior members of a team to produce deliverables accurately and on time
· Prepare for and attend meetings with clients and consultants, record decisions, and issue notes
· Assist in coordination efforts with other project professionals
· Develop clear, carefully considered drawings.
· Communicate effectively in written and oral formats
· Self-check own work and the work of other team members for completeness and accuracy
Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s or master’s degree in architecture
· 2 to 3 years of full-time experience in an architectural practice preferred
· A demonstrated understanding of and strong interest in classical architectural design principles
· Strong artistic ability and graphic sensibility, with an eye for proportion and historical precedent
· Proficiency in AutoCAD required.
· Proficiency in Revit and other architectural design software is a plus. Ability and willingness to learn new design software required.
· Basic understanding of construction principles
· Excellent analytical, time management, conceptual, communication, and organizational skills
· Precise and personable verbal and written communication skills
· Must be able to commute to our NYC office 5 days per week

Final compensation will be determined based on several factors, including the candidate’s qualifications, relevant experience, the specific responsibilities and scope of the role, as well as market conditions and business needs at the time an offer is extended.
