PreVeil makes email and file sharing easy to use and incredibly secure. Our end-to-end encrypted platform is trusted by thousands of organizations — from defense contractors to law firms — who need to protect sensitive information without sacrificing usability.
PreVeil is looking for a Senior Product Designer who brings exceptional design judgment, deep user empathy, and the rare ability to turn genuinely complex ideas into experiences that feel intuitive to users.
This is a high-ownership role on a small, fast-moving team. You'll work across our Windows, Mac, web, and mobile products to help shape a cohesive and compelling experience for enterprise users and admins alike. You'll move quickly, think rigorously, and communicate your design decisions with clarity and conviction. You'll have strong opinions but hold them loosely — open to guidance, collaborative by nature, and deeply reliable.
What You'll Own
Design Judgment & Problem Solving
• Investigate design challenges with depth — explore multiple approaches, evaluate tradeoffs, and arrive at a clear, well-reasoned point of view
• Articulate design decisions with conviction: why a path was chosen, what alternatives were considered, and what was intentionally left out
• Demonstrate a high bar for what good looks like — backed by evidence from your portfolio and process
Simplifying Complex Experiences
• Translate technically complex product concepts into experiences that feel intuitive and effortless
• Design for both admin and end-user personas — audiences with fundamentally different mental models, workflows, and risk tolerances
• Reduce cognitive load without reducing capability; make hard things feel easy
Cross-Platform Design Consistency
• Own and evolve a design system and component library that scales across Windows, Mac, web, and mobile
• Apply deep knowledge of platform-specific design standards while maintaining a unified PreVeil identity
• Ensure every surface feels like one product — not four separate apps
End-to-End Execution
• Drive the full design lifecycle: discovery, user research, wireframing, prototyping, high-fidelity design, and developer-ready handoff
• Produce clear, complete specs that engineering can act on without ambiguity or back-and-forth
• Actively use AI tools to accelerate iteration, sharpen craft, and explore ideas faster
User Research & Deep User Understanding
• Conduct and synthesize user research to build a genuine picture of how users think, work, and struggle
• Bring evidence of user needs into every design decision — not just instinct
• Identify behavioral patterns across users and translate them into better product decisions
Collaboration & Reliability
• Partner closely with Product and Engineering — communicate clearly, show work early, and iterate based on real feedback
• Be the designer people can count on: have great quality designs that are well thought through, meet commitments, and surface issues proactively
• Work with a low ego and a maker-first mindset — this is a hands-on, high-output role
What We're Looking For
Core requirements
• 7+ years of product design experience, with a portfolio demonstrating strong design judgment and enterprise UX depth
• Experience designing enterprise software — ideally on collaboration or productivity software
• Demonstrated ability to simplify complex systems into clear, usable experiences
• Deep knowledge of cross-platform design standards: Windows, Mac, web, and mobile
• Experience owning and scaling design systems and component libraries
• Experience designing for different personas (admins and end-users)
• Fluency in Figma; active use of AI tools to accelerate and sharpen design work
• Comfort operating independently, with ambiguity and in fast-paced environments, with a strong bias for action
• Clear, compelling communicator — you can walk any audience through a design decision and make them believe in it
• Collaborative, reliable, and low-ego — you take direction well and make the team around you better
Nice to have
• Front-end literacy (HTML, CSS, React) for stronger engineering partnership
• Experience in fast-paced startup or growth-stage environments
• Strong initiative and bias for action
• Background designing for technically sophisticated or security-conscious user bases
Working Style & Culture Fit
This role is for someone who leads with craft, thrives with autonomy, and earns trust through consistency and great work product. You'll be joining a team that moves fast — so speed matters — but you'll also be expected to do the rigorous thinking that makes fast decisions hold up over time.
We value:
• A strong point of view rooted in clear logic, paired with genuine openness to feedback and guidance
• Work that is thorough and well-considered, not just visually polished
• Strong ownership and as well as being a strong team player
• Deep understanding of our product and customers
