Job Title: Elementary School Electives Teacher

Location: Remote (Must reside in AZ)
Reports to: Principal, K-8
Employment Type: Exempt/Full-Time

About Primavera Online School:

Primavera Online School is an accredited, tuition-free public charter school serving students across Arizona for more than 25 years. We specialize in flexible, student-centered online education designed to meet learners where they are—academically, emotionally, and socially.

We believe every student deserves access to an education that adapts to their life, not the other way around. At Primavera, we support diverse learners, empower families, and partner closely with educators to create personalized learning experiences that drive real outcomes. Our work is grounded in care, accountability, and a deep commitment to helping students succeed—both in school and beyond.

As a fully remote organization, we value clear communication, collaboration, and ownership. You’ll find a mission-driven team that takes its responsibility to students seriously while supporting one another as professionals and humans.

The Team You Will Join:

You’ll be part of the Elementary School team, working closely with dedicated elementary school teachers across content areas, academic success coaches, school counselors, instructional coaches and school leadership. This team is responsible for delivering engaging, standards-aligned elective instruction to elementary learners-expanding student interests, creative expression, and real-world skills that complement core academics and prepare every student for high school and beyond.

The team culture is collaborative, fast-paced, and deeply student-centered, and you’ll have opportunities to grow as an educator through ongoing PD, collaborate with passionate colleagues across content areas, and be part of a team that believes every kid can thrive - academically, socially, and as a whole person while partnering across Primavera Online School.

The Difference You Will Make:

In this role, your work will directly impact students and families by meeting students where they are. At Primavera, success isn’t one-size-fits-all—for one student it might mean discovering a passion or talent they never knew they had; for another, it might mean developing the creativity, collaboration, and self-directed learning skills that carry over into every area of their education.

You’ll help nurture academic growth, build confidence, and support the whole child, contributing to Primavera’s mission in a meaningful and visible way.

A Typical Day Looks Like:

While no two days are exactly the same, you can expect to:

  • Deliver engaging, standards-aligned elective instruction through virtual sessions, small groups, and one-on-one check-ins; adapt pacing and strategies to meet the diverse interests and learning needs of elementary students
  • Monitor student progress, attendance, academic integrity, and engagement—using data to make informed instructional decisions and provide timely, meaningful feedback
  • Develop and implement individualized learning goals, differentiate instruction for diverse learners, and design and grade assessments that measure student growth and skill development within the elective area
  • Partner with academic student success coaches, school counselors, administrators, instructional coaches and families to support the academic, social-emotional, and behavioral needs of every student
  • Use online learning platforms, student information systems, and communication tools to manage instruction, documentation, family outreach, and professional collaboration
  • All teachers are required to actively support and participate in state-mandated testing periods. This is considered an essential function of the role.
  • Participation in state testing is a condition of employment for all instructional and student-facing roles.
  • State testing may span approximately 6 consecutive weeks and require full availability during scheduled testing windows.
  • Teachers must be able to travel to assigned testing locations within the state of Arizona, including locations outside of their home city.
  • Attendance during state testing is mandatory, and time off will not be approved during designated testing windows except as required by law and in extraordinary circumstances.
  • Teachers are required to assist with proctoring, coordination, and student support during testing.
  • Attendance at key school events (e.g., student orientations, school-sponsored activities, and other events aligned to this role) is required, based on role responsibilities and reasonable proximity to the event location. These events may occur outside of regular working hours and may require occasional travel.
  • Performs other duties aligned to the role and organizational needs as assigned.

This role balances structured virtual sessions with responsive, relationship-driven support and is well-suited for someone who enjoys connecting with students at one of the most pivotal stages of their development, helping them explore interests and build skills beyond the core curriculum, and showing up every day with purpose in a fast-paced virtual environment.

Your Expertise Includes:

We’re looking for someone who brings:

  • Valid Standard Professional Arizona Teaching Certificate with endorsement(s) appropriate to the elective area(s) assigned (Preferred)
  • Valid IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card
  • Teaching experience at the elementary level in a virtual or in-person setting
  • Strong communication, organizational, and relationship-building skills with students, families, and colleagues

Bonus points if you also have:

  • Experience using adaptive technology tools, learning management systems, or student information platforms in an instructional setting
  • Background in differentiated instruction, project-based or creative learning, or supporting diverse learners including English Language Learners and students with IEPs
