HOURS WORKED: Full-time (must be able to work Sundays and occasional evenings/weekends for events, as required)

WAGE RANGE: $65,000-$75,000/ year

The Youth & Family Manager sits at the intersection of three vital ministry areas: youth, children, and family. This role is both relational and operational, deeply invested in students and families while keeping the day-to-day ministry running with joy and excellence.


JOB SUMMARY
The Youth & Family Manager will take primary ownership of LSQ’s youth discipleship (6th–12th grade), while also contributing meaningfully to children’s ministry and family engagement. This is a mid-level ministry role for a proven practitioner who is ready to lead, not just assist, while continuing to grow under the vision and leadership of Redeemer LSQ. This role is structured around three areas of responsibility:

  • Youth Ministry (6th–12th grade) — 60%
  • Children’s Ministry (Infant–5th grade) — 20%
  • Family Engagement — 20%


JOB DESCRIPTION

YOUTH MINISTRY — 6th–12th Grade (60%)

The Youth & Family Manager will serve as the primary point of contact and lead for LSQ’s youth discipleship ministry, working in close collaboration with the LSQ Director of Family Ministries.


LSQ Youth

  • Plan and facilitate community building events that foster genuine friendship and belonging among LSQ youth
  • Build consistent, trust-based relationships with students outside of formal programming
  • Oversee logistics, curriculum, attendance, and parent communication for all LSQ Sunday Youth gatherings
  • Lead weekly youth gatherings, small groups, and one-on-one discipleship outside of Sundays
  • Develop and deliver gospel-centered, age-appropriate teaching for both large group gatherings and small group settings

Student Discipleship

  • Build genuine, ongoing relationships with middle and high school students—attending games, performances, and key life moments
  • Mentor students individually and in community, walking alongside them through questions of faith, identity, and calling
  • Lead Communicants Class, guiding students toward a deeper understanding of faith and meaningful participation in church membership

Leadership Development

  • Recruit, train, and shepherd volunteer youth leaders from the LSQ congregation
  • Invest in young adult volunteers, equipping them to disciple middle and high school students
  • Conduct regular one-on-ones and community-building gatherings with volunteers
  • Ensure all volunteers are screened, trained, and compliant with LSQ child safety policies

Programming & Events

  • Plan and execute weekly youth programming
  • Coordinate LSQ student participation in retreats, mission trips, service projects, and events
  • Organize and lead opportunities for students to love and serve New York City

Family & Parent Engagement

  • Build trust-based relationships with the parents of youth students
  • Conduct one-on-one meetings with parents and assist in organizing parenting workshops
  • Maintain consistent communication with families regarding youth events, invites, and registrations

City-Wide Youth Coalition

  • Cultivate organic relationships with youth pastors and ministry leaders across New York City
  • Represent LSQ in the broader gospel-centered youth ministry ecosystem of the city
  • Explore and help develop the vision for a city-wide youth coalition, a collaborative network of NYC youth leaders united around the gospel
  • Identify opportunities for shared events, resource-sharing, and mutual encouragement across church communities


CHILDREN’S MINISTRY — Infant–5th Grade (20%)

The Youth & Family Manager will contribute meaningfully to LSQ’s children’s ministry, taking on focused areas of responsibility in support of the broader team led by the Director of Family Formation.


Sunday Coordination

  • Assist with execution of logistics, curriculum, classroom management, attendance, and parent communication for LSQ children’s programming
  • Rotate periodically with children’s ministry staff to take the lead on Sunday morning management and setup
  • Maintain a welcoming and safe environment for children and families
  • Administration support as needed
  • Support database management (Planning Center), including check-ins and attendance tracking
  • Participate in planning and leading VBS


FAMILY & CHURCH-WIDE INTEGRATION (20%)

The Youth & Family Manager will play a key role in building a culture where families across all ministry areas feel welcomed, known, and equipped to grow as disciples—at church and at home.


Community Building

  • Actively work to integrate families into the broader life of the LSQ congregation—building bridges between children’s, youth, and adult ministries so families experience the church as one unified community
  • Assist in planning and executing seasonal programs, family events, and community-building activities across LSQ
  • Help create environments where families experience genuine belonging and are drawn deeper into the life of the church
  • Collaborate with the Family Ministry team on cross-ministry events and initiatives

Parent Discipleship & Resources

  • Provide resources and support for parents in their role as primary disciplers of their children
  • Assist in leading or facilitating parent workshops, small groups, and informational gatherings
  • Build relationships with families, serving as a point of pastoral care and connection

Vision & Strategic Contribution

  • Contribute ideas and creative solutions to support the long-term vision of family ministry at LSQ
  • Participate in weekly family ministry meetings to set goals and refine strategies
  • Collaborate across ministry departments to ensure alignment with LSQ’s broader mission


QUALIFICATIONS

Required

  • Must embrace LSQ’s vision and have a gospel-oriented heart for New York City
  • Must be aligned with the core theological principles and ministry values of LSQ and the Presbyterian Church of America, including the Westminster Confession
  • Must have a deep and growing relationship with Jesus Christ
  • Four-year undergraduate degree in theology, youth ministry, education, psychology, or a related field; or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum 3–5 years of ministry experience (volunteer or paid), with demonstrated leadership in youth ministry
  • Proven ability to teach the Bible, theology, and Christian discipleship to youth in large and small group settings
  • Experience recruiting, training, and managing volunteers
  • Strong organizational, relational, and communication skills

Preferred

  • Graduate work in theology, counseling, or a related field
  • Experience with urban or multicultural ministry contexts
  • Curriculum development experience
  • Previous public speaking and teaching experience in varied group sizes
  • Familiarity with child safety policies and best practices in family ministry
