Strategic Operations Lead

About Reserv

Reserv is an insurtech creating and incubating cutting-edge AI and automation technology to bring efficiency and simplicity to claims. Founded by insurtech veterans with deep experience in SaaS and digital claims, Reserv is venture-backed by Bain Capital and Altai Ventures and began operations in May 2022. We are focused on automating highly manual tasks to tackle long-standing problems in claims and set a new standard for TPAs, insurance technology providers, and adjusters alike. We have ambitious (but attainable!) goals and need people who can work in an evolving environment. If building a leading TPA and the prospect of tackling the long-standing challenges of the claims role sounds exciting, we can't wait to meet you.

Location Requirement

Candidates must reside in an eligible U.S. state throughout employment. We are unable to hire candidates residing in California, Alaska, Hawaii, U.S. territories, or outside the United States.

About the Role

The Strategic Operations team sits between Claims Operations, Account Management, Product, and Finance, and owns the work that moves the business against its margin and service targets.

As a Strategic Operations Lead at Reserv, you will play a critical role in driving operational efficiency and supporting key strategic initiatives across the organization. You will be responsible for leading cross-functional projects, analyzing complex business challenges, identifying opportunities for improvement, and implementing strategic and scalable solutions to optimize performance. You will also be involved in gathering and interpreting data, coordinating project execution, and ensuring alignment with company goals.

The work spans the organization, from gross margin improvement plans for a line of business to the operating standards and systems the business runs on. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys solving complex problems, and is eager to contribute to the growth and success of an innovative company. You will be an excellent fit if you came out of strategy consulting, can build the case yourself, and want to own the implementation as well as the recommendation.

Duties & Responsibilities

Strategic Operator: Own strategic initiatives end to end, from framing the problem through to the change being live in the business. Define scope, objectives, deliverables, and timelines in collaboration with senior leadership, and assemble project teams across product, engineering, claims, and account management.

Data-Driven: Build the quantitative and qualitative case to size both the problem and the opportunity, working across claims, finance, account, and operational data as well as the people closest to the work. Translate what you find into a recommendation leadership can decide on, and defend it when it is challenged.

Leading with Influence: Drive initiatives through senior stakeholders, building the trust that lets you convene them and hold them to a date. Communicate status and trade-offs proactively, make data-driven decisions on resource allocation, and course-correct before a plan slips rather than after.

Results-Oriented: Deliver tangible change rather than recommendations, and manage the work to performance metrics that show whether it is working. Verify the change landed in practice, collect feedback, and carry what you learn into how the next initiative is designed.

  • At least 2 years in management consulting, operational transformation, operations management, or strategic planning roles
  • Experience running cross-functional work against dates, and communicating it to senior leadership
  • Detail-oriented and organized, comfortable carrying several workstreams at once
  • Active use of AI tools in your own work, and interest in applying them to operations and analysis
  • Claims or insurance experience is helpful here and is not required
  • Strong quantitative skills, with comfort building the analysis yourself and working fluently in business intelligence tools (Looker, Tableau, Power BI)
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or a related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred

Benefits

  • Generous health-insurance package with nationwide coverage, vision, & dental
  • 401(k) retirement plan with employer matching
  • Competitive PTO policy – we want our employees fresh, healthy, happy, and energized!
  • Generous family leave policy after 8 months of continuous work
  • Work from anywhere to facilitate your work life balance
  • Apple laptop, large second monitor, and other quality-of-life equipment you may want. Technology is something that should make your life easier, not harder!

At Reserv, we value diversity in backgrounds, perspectives, and life experiences and believe that diversity in viewpoints and critical thinking drives innovation, first-principles thinking, and success. We welcome applicants from all backgrounds and encourage those from all walks of life to apply. If you believe you are a good fit for this role, we would love to hear from you!
