About the role

The Legal Assistant supports our Litigation Department in managing personal injury cases from initial filing through resolution. This role plays an essential part in ensuring our clients receive exceptional service by maintaining organized case files, preparing legal documents, coordinating schedules, and communicating with all parties involved. The ideal candidate is detail‑oriented, highly organized, able to work in a fast‑paced environment, and committed to supporting our firm’s mission of advocating for injured clients across Texas. 

What you'll do

• Assist lead attorneys and paralegals in managing personal injury cases from initial Litigation assignment all the way through settlement.  

• Draft, format, and proofread legal documents, including pleadings, correspondence, and discovery requests. 

• Maintain and organize case files, including electronic records, ensuring accurate and up-to-date documentation. 

• Conduct legal research and gather relevant case information, including medical records and accident reports.  

• Schedule appointments, hearings, depositions, and client meetings. 

• Communicate with clients, opposing counsel, court personnel, and medical providers on behalf of attorneys. 

• Prepare legal documents for filing with courts and ensure proper filing procedures are followed. 

• Track deadlines and manage case calendars to ensure compliance with filing and hearing dates. 

• Assist in trial preparation, including organizing exhibits, witness lists, and trial binders. 

• Process settlements, including drafting settlement agreements and disbursement of funds. 

• Provide general administrative support, including answering phones, managing emails, and processing mail. 

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required. 

• Associate’s degree, paralegal certification, or bachelor’s degree preferred. 

• 1–3 years of experience as a legal assistant or in a litigation support role, preferably in personal injury law. 

• Experience with e‑filing systems in Texas state courts highly preferred. 

• Bilingual in English and Spanish is a preferred.
