Nurse Practitioner / Physician Assistant - Integrative Wellness

About Our Organization

Sarasota Arthritis Center is a leading healthcare provider dedicated to delivering high-quality, patient-centered care. Our mission is to improve the health and well-being of the communities we serve through innovative, compassionate, and accessible healthcare services. We are committed to advancing medical excellence, fostering a supportive work environment, and upholding the highest standards of ethics and integrity.

Overview
The Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN)/Physician Assistant (PA-C) provides direct patient care within Sarasota Arthritis Center’s clinical setting, evaluating, diagnosing, and managing patients with rheumatologic conditions in accordance with Florida law and established collaborative agreements. This position ensures the highest standard of clinical quality, patient safety, and adherence to provider protocols and regulatory requirements. The APRN/PA-C plays a critical role in supporting physician workflow, improving patient access to care, and maintaining continuity of treatment across SAC’s Sarasota, Venice, and Bradenton locations.

This role also carries a second, developing responsibility. SAC is building an integrative wellness and longevity service line intended to serve our existing rheumatology population — patients whose autoimmune disease, long-term corticosteroid exposure, and immunosuppressive therapy leave them with skin fragility, collagen loss, impaired healing, chronic musculoskeletal pain, fatigue, and hormonal change that traditional rheumatologic care alone does not address. Planned services include broadband light (BBL) and red light therapy, platelet-rich plasma (PRP) for musculoskeletal indications, menopause hormone therapy, testosterone replacement, and a limited aesthetic injectable component.

This is a ground-floor opportunity. The provider in this role will begin with a primarily rheumatology-focused schedule while helping design, launch, and operationalize the wellness service line, then transition progressively toward a primarily wellness and longevity practice as the program matures. We are seeking a clinician who is excited by both halves of that arc.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate, diagnose, and manage patients with rheumatologic conditions in accordance with established protocols and collaborative agreements.
  • Conduct new patient consultations, follow-up visits, TOCs, and medication management appointments.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans in collaboration with supervising physicians.
  • Prescribe medications, biologics, and infusion therapies in compliance with Florida statutes and DEA regulations.
  • Order, review, and interpret laboratory tests, imaging studies, and diagnostic reports.
  • Identify patients appropriate for infusion or biologic therapy and coordinate care with the Infusion and Prior Authorization teams.
  • Monitor patient response to treatment plans and adjust therapies as clinically indicated.
  • Document all patient encounters thoroughly and accurately in the electronic medical record (NextGen) in real time.

  • Communicate clearly and professionally with patients, providers, and staff regarding care plans and follow-up needs.
  • Collaborate with Prior Authorizations department to ensure appropriate documentation is obtained for prior authorizations.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and provider meetings as assigned.

  • Other duties as assigned. This job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive list of activities, duties, or responsibilities that are required of the employee. They may change, or new ones may be assigned at any time with or without notice.

  • Complete manufacturer- and vendor-provided device and injectable training as required; SAC will sponsor and fund required training and certification.
  • Integrate wellness services into the rheumatologic care plan, evaluating candidacy in the context of the patient's underlying autoimmune disease, immunosuppressive and corticosteroid therapy, wound healing capacity, infection risk, and comorbidities.
  • Educate patients on wellness service options, expected outcomes, limitations, risks, and costs in a transparent, non-promotional manner consistent with SAC's ethical standards.
  • Recognize, document, and manage complications and adverse outcomes related to aesthetic, laser, regenerative, and hormone therapies, escalating to physician leadership as appropriate.
