Procurement Manager

Position Responsibilities:


This role is responsible for developing and managing a high-performing supplier network that supports custom engineering and manufacturing projects. The Procurement Manager partners with internal stakeholders and external vendors to secure quality materials and services while negotiating favorable commercial agreements, managing supplier performance, and minimizing procurement risks.

  • Build, expand, and maintain strategic relationships with fabrication shops, machine shops, specialty manufacturers, and service providers.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between our client and external suppliers to strengthen long-term partnerships.
  • Evaluate, qualify, and onboard suppliers based on technical capability, quality standards, delivery performance, and overall risk.
  • Negotiate pricing, lead times, payment terms, warranties, and commercial agreements.
  • Visit supplier facilities to assess manufacturing capabilities, production capacity, and quality systems.
  • Support project teams by sourcing qualified suppliers, obtaining quotations, validating schedules, and identifying procurement risks.
  • Resolve supplier change requests, pricing adjustments, claims, and scope issues while protecting business interests.
  • Communicate supplier performance, project status, and sourcing recommendations to project teams and leadership.
  • Track supplier performance metrics to improve future sourcing decisions and procurement strategies.

Position requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience in procurement, purchasing, supply chain, sourcing, manufacturing, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated success building and managing supplier relationships.
  • Strong negotiation skills involving pricing, lead times, and commercial terms.
  • Experience working with fabrication shops, machine shops, or custom manufacturing suppliers.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, bills of material, specifications, and supplier quotations.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills with suppliers, engineers, project teams, and leadership.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple procurement activities simultaneously.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced custom engineering environment with changing priorities.
  • Must qualify as a U.S. person under applicable export control regulations.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
  • Experience procuring fabricated steel, machined components, weldments, mechanical assemblies, or custom-engineered products.
  • Experience developing supplier networks and improving sourcing processes.
  • Familiarity with purchase order terms, contracts, warranties, change orders, and supplier claims.
  • Knowledge of quality systems, welding standards, material certifications, and supplier quality requirements.
  • Experience using ERP/MRP systems, supplier scorecards, or procurement dashboards.
  • Experience supporting project-based engineering, custom manufacturing, aerospace, themed entertainment, or complex mechanical systems.
