About the Role

Sentry Fire Protection Services is seeking motivated and safety-focused Field Rescue Technician to join our growing Safety Division. This role provides on-site safety oversight, emergency response readiness, confined space monitoring, and technical rescue standby services for industrial, commercial, and construction projects.

The successful candidate will help protect workers in high-risk environments by monitoring safety compliance, conducting hazard assessments, maintaining rescue readiness, and responding to emergencies when required. This position is ideal for individuals with experience in industrial safety, emergency response, technical rescue, firefighting, or related fields.


Employment Type

Temporary Contract Position (Unionized)

This is a temporary contract position supporting a scheduled industrial project. The anticipated contract duration is approximately 2–3 weeks of active project work, with an estimated overall employment period of up to one month, including training and project deployment. Contract duration may be extended or shortened based on operational and client requirements.

Training Period: August–September 2026

Project Deployment: October 2026


Work Schedule

  • Average 10–12 hours per day
  • Average 5–7 days per week
  • Day shifts, night shifts, weekends, holidays, and overtime may be required
  • Must be available to work varying schedules and respond to changing operational needs

Important Employment Condition

Employment is conditional upon successfully completing all components of Sentry Fire Protection Services' internal Safety Rescue Technician training program, including required practical evaluations, competency assessments, and safety training requirements.

Candidates who do not complete the training program may be deemed ineligible for project assignment and continued employment.

Compensation

  • Field Rate: $29.01 per hour
  • Paid Training Rate: $25.78 per hour

Safety Rescue Technicians provide on-site safety oversight, confined space monitoring, emergency response readiness, and technical rescue standby services for industrial, commercial, and construction projects. Team members play a critical role in protecting workers performing high-risk activities and ensuring emergency preparedness on site.

This position is ideal for candidates interested in industrial safety, emergency response, rescue operations, construction safety, or related fields.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide on-site safety monitoring and worker oversight.
  • Perform confined space attendant and rescue standby duties.
  • Monitor high-risk work activities and identify workplace hazards.
  • Review permits, rescue plans, and site-specific safety requirements.
  • Conduct atmospheric monitoring and confined space entry oversight.
  • Assist with hazard assessments and risk mitigation activities.
  • Maintain rescue, fall protection, and emergency response equipment.
  • Participate in emergency response, rescue operations, and incident management.
  • Provide First Aid, CPR/AED, and emergency medical assistance within certification limits.
  • Complete permits, inspections, reports, and safety documentation.
  • Participate in safety meetings, toolbox talks, and emergency drills.
  • Promote a positive safety culture and intervene when unsafe conditions are observed.

Minimum Qualifications

Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Experience

  • Previous experience in construction, industrial, manufacturing, utility, commercial, or safety-related environments is considered an asset but is not required.

Working Conditions

This role regularly involves:

  • Long shifts and physically demanding work.
  • Standing, walking, climbing, kneeling, and lifting throughout the workday.
  • Lifting and carrying equipment weighing up to 50 lbs or more.
  • Emergency response situations requiring rapid decision-making and physical activity.
  • Travel between project and customer sites as required.
