Overview

The Manager of Regulatory Affairs will provide leadership to the Regulatory department through the development and implementation of a regulatory strategies that support the Company’s five-year growth plan by maintaining existing registrations and securing registrations for new products. The Manager will lead the project management of the Company’s development programs in coordination with management and the leadership team to represent Sipcam Agro USA and Sipcam Oxon in negotiations, regulatory committees, and task forces.


Key Responsibilities

  • Foster a strong team culture and support the Regulatory Team by providing guidance regarding best practices and performance
  • Direct the regulatory affairs of Sipcam Agro USA and ensure compliance with all state and federal regulatory requirements
  • Develop and implement regulatory strategies with Sipcam Oxon, the parent company of Sipcam Agro USA, for global active ingredients
  • Partner with Sipcam leadership and management to secure, register, and launch new products from third parties and Sipcam Oxon while meeting critical timelines
  • Ensure all registration packages are submitted accurately and on time
  • Develop and maintain relationships with EPA account managers and other state regulatory authorities
  • Work with the Sipcam Agro management team to negotiate data compensation agreements as required as part of the product acquisition strategy
  • Ensure the Regulatory Team stays up to date on state and federal registrations
  • Manage relationships with regulatory consultants
  • Work with the Operations Team to successfully bring products to market while ensuring the regulatory compliance of existing product portfolios
  • Serve as an active member of the Sipcam New Product Introduction (NPI) Team
  • Provide Sipcam Agro management and cross-functional teams with regulatory and competitive intelligence
  • Represent Sipcam Agro on regulatory committees with Crop Life America, BPIA, RISE and other agricultural organizations as assigned
  • Guide Sipcam management on strategy and represent the company on regulatory task forces
  • Work with the Regulatory Team to prepare the annual Regulatory budget and business plan

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Chemistry, or a related field
  • Master’s degree or PhD preferred
  • 15-20 years of experience in the Regulatory affairs
  • 10-15 years of experience managing and overseeing federal and multi-state regulatory affairs
  • 10+ years of experience leading teams of five or more employees. Experience with coaching, performance management, and mentoring

Skills & Competencies

  • Knowledge of crop protection business practices
    Deep understanding of the agriculture industry including crop protection, industry/market knowledge and technologies and practices
  • Excellent attention to detail with reading technical documents and reporting data
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills and the ability to present data in a clear and concise manner
  • Strong time management skills with the ability to set priorities and manage changing timelines
  • Strong leadership capabilities, a proven track record of quickly establishing credibility and utilizing strategic thinking and planning within the functions of the organization as well as in partnership with cross-functional teams and stakeholders
  • Ability to influence, develop, and maintain effective internal and external relationships to drive organizational change with or without direct authority. Proactively collaborate and ensure cohesion across the organization. Promote and secure cross-functional buy-in from leadership and peer groups within the company
  • Ability to participate in technical discussions while effectively communicating the importance of state and federal regulations and regulatory standards
  • Ability to work effectively within a multicultural team and environment. Ability to consider diverse perspectives, foster collaboration, and resolve issues or conflicts in a constructive and professional manner
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to meet changing deadlines
  • Ability to travel up to 20% as business need require
  • Ability to work full-time on-site at Sipcam Agro USA’s headquarters in Durham, North Carolina

Communication Skills

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, or governmental

regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and personnel policies and procedural

manuals.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only

limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of information furnished in written and oral form.

Physical Demands

The physical demands required of the position include prolonged sitting; extended periods of computer

use and keyboarding; and a normal range of hearing and vision. Additional requirements include extended periods of travel, driving and overnight stays away from home. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job
