Position Overview

The Regional Manager is directly accountable for business results and management quality across the assigned region. The role translates Company business objectives into results through District Managers, driving sales, profit, labor, inventory, shrink, service, standards, new-store openings, underperforming-store improvement, and leadership succession.

The Regional Manager delivers results primarily through goal deployment, business reviews, District Manager coaching, spot checks of stores, and resource coordination. The role participates in operational feasibility assessments and operational readiness for new stores; site selection, leases, and construction delivery remain the primary responsibility of the Expansion Department.

Job Responsibilities

Goal Deployment and Business Planning

  1. Translate annual and quarterly business objectives into plans for sales, profit, labor, inventory, shrink, new stores, underperforming stores, and talent.
  2. Allocate objectives to District Managers and priority stores, identifying monthly priorities, accountable owners, deadlines, and acceptance criteria.
  3. Lead regional weekly follow-ups, monthly business reviews, and quarterly summaries; recommend corrective action and resource adjustments when results deviate from targets.

Business Performance and Expense Control

  1. Monitor core store indicators, including sales, gross profit, net profit, labor productivity, inventory turnover, out-of-stocks, and shrink.
  2. Guide District Managers in analyzing year-over-year and period-over-period results, category performance, and cost structures to develop store and district improvement plans.
  3. Control labor, marketing, and operating expenses within approved budgets and policies; promptly report exceptions to Finance and the direct supervisor.

District Manager Leadership and Execution Oversight

  1. Set District Manager objectives and assess store visit plans, business reviews, corrective action closure, and Store Manager coaching quality.
  2. Focus on districts or stores with persistent underperformance, weak management, or recurring issues, and drive corrective action within defined deadlines.
  3. Verify district management quality through spot checks and visits to priority stores, without replacing District Managers by directly managing every store.

New Store Readiness and Underperforming Store Improvement

  1. Participate in new-store operational feasibility assessments and recommend requirements for space, customer flow, stockrooms, staffing, opening readiness, and operational risks.
  2. Coordinate district and store resources to complete staffing, training, merchandising, systems readiness, initial deliveries, and operational acceptance at defined milestones.
  3. Monitor new-store reviews at 7, 30, 60, and 90 days and underperforming-store corrective action at 30, 60, and 90 days, defining milestone outcomes and recommended next steps.

Standards Implementation and Risk Management

  1. Implement store SOPs and standards for merchandising, service, cleanliness, checkout, inventory, safety, and system operations across the region.
  2. Oversee compliance with requirements for product safety, cash and refunds, inventory, shrink, employment practices, store safety, and information security.
  3. Immediately coordinate loss containment, evidence preservation, escalation, and cross-functional response to major customer complaints, employee complaints, workplace injuries, product safety issues, public relations matters, and business risks.

Leadership Succession and Cross-Functional Coordination

  1. Lead District Manager selection, coaching, performance feedback, and capability assessment; recommend appointments, promotions, transfers, or development actions.
  2. Conduct quarterly talent reviews and build succession pipelines for District Managers, future Store Managers, Assistant Store Managers, and Team Leads.
  3. Work with Human Resources, Finance, Merchandising, Marketing, Expansion, IT, Warehousing and Logistics, and Legal to resolve matters affecting business operations and store openings.
