UI Engineer — Tilda Research

About the Role

Tilda Research is looking for a talented UI Engineer to help build modern, intuitive, and high-performance user experiences for our AI-powered clinical research platform.

In this role, you will translate complex data, clinical workflows, and product requirements into elegant, scalable web interfaces. You'll work closely with Product, Design, and Engineering to build polished, production-ready applications that make clinical research workflows simpler and more efficient.

We're looking for an engineer who combines strong React and TypeScript expertise, excellent UI/UX instincts, hands-on experience building component libraries and design systems, and practical experience using modern AI development tools.

You should be comfortable working in a fast-moving startup environment where ownership, creativity, collaboration, and rapid execution are essential.

Key Responsibilities

• Build Modern User Interfaces: Design, develop, and maintain responsive, high-performance web applications using React, TypeScript, and modern frontend technologies.
• Develop Component Libraries & Design Systems: Build reusable UI components, establish consistent design patterns, and contribute to scalable frontend architecture.
• Translate Designs into Production Experiences: Collaborate with Product and Design to transform product requirements, wireframes, and prototypes into polished, intuitive interfaces.
• Integrate APIs & AI-Powered Workflows: Connect frontend applications with backend services, REST APIs, and AI-powered capabilities, including interactive workflows, document processing, and human-in-the-loop experiences.
• Leverage AI Development Tools: Actively use AI coding and development tools to accelerate implementation, prototyping, debugging, testing, and code quality while maintaining engineering standards.
• Optimize Performance & Quality: Deliver clean, maintainable, well-tested code while improving application performance, responsiveness, accessibility, and usability.
• Own Frontend Features End-to-End: Take responsibility for frontend features from technical design and implementation through testing, deployment, and continuous improvement.

Required Qualifications

• Must have solid English Communication Skills is required
• 5+ years of professional frontend or UI engineering experience.
• Strong hands-on expertise with React and TypeScript.
• Advanced knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and responsive web design.
• Demonstrated experience building and maintaining reusable component libraries and design systems.
• Experience integrating frontend applications with REST APIs and backend services.
• Strong understanding of frontend architecture, state management, asynchronous data handling, and error handling.
• Excellent attention to UI/UX quality, visual consistency, and interaction design.
• Experience using modern AI-assisted development tools such as Cursor, Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, or similar tools as part of the engineering workflow.
• Ability to independently own and deliver production-quality features in a fast-moving startup environment.
• Portfolio, GitHub profile, or demonstrated projects required, with the ability to present and discuss previous work.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience building AI-powered user interfaces, including LLM-driven applications, AI assistants, and human-in-the-loop workflows.
• Experience with frontend testing frameworks such as Jest, Cypress, or Playwright.
• Experience with frontend performance optimization, accessibility, and cross-browser compatibility.
• Familiarity with modern UI libraries and frameworks such as Tailwind CSS, Material UI, shadcn/ui, or similar technologies.
• Experience using AI tools for rapid prototyping, UI generation, automated testing, and development workflow improvements.
• Experience working in a startup or high-growth SaaS environment.
• Experience developing workflow-heavy enterprise applications, ideally in healthcare, clinical research, or life sciences.
