The successful candidate will independently manage financial analysis, pricing evaluations, profitability assessments, and budgeting activities while working closely with cross-functional stakeholders. We are looking for a confident, analytical professional who takes ownership of deliverables, challenges assumptions constructively, and brings a collaborative, solution-focused approach to business challenges.

1. Commercial Financial Analysis & Profitability
- Analyze freight pricing, customer and lane profitability, revenue trends, cost structures, and operating margins to evaluate commercial performance and identify opportunities to improve profitability.
- Conduct detailed financial assessments of customer contracts, pricing proposals, and commercial arrangements, highlighting financial risks, margin leakage, and potential improvement opportunities.
- Build and maintain financial models, conduct scenario and sensitivity analyses, and develop recommendations that support pricing decisions, cost management, and profitable growth.
2. Corporate Budgeting & Financial Planning
- Own assigned components of the corporate budgeting and forecasting process, working with department leaders to validate assumptions, assess financial requirements, and develop realistic financial projections.
- Perform budget-to-actual variance analysis, investigate underlying performance drivers, and provide meaningful explanations and recommendations to address financial gaps.
- Evaluate cost-saving opportunities, monitor financial performance against business targets, and support financial planning through accurate analysis and forward-looking insights.
3. Business Performance & Decision Support
- Translate complex financial and operational data into clear business insights that help stakeholders understand performance, risks, and opportunities.
- Evaluate the financial feasibility of business initiatives, operational changes, and commercial opportunities through cost-benefit assessments, business cases, and financial projections.
- Partner with business leaders to challenge financial assumptions, assess alternative approaches, and recommend solutions that balance commercial objectives with operational realities.
4. Pricing & Commercial Process Optimization
- Review pricing structures, costing methodologies, and commercial processes to identify inconsistencies, inefficiencies, and opportunities for improved financial performance.
- Work with Business Excellence, Sales, and Operations to strengthen pricing discipline, improve financial controls, and implement practical process improvements.
- Identify opportunities to automate repetitive analysis, streamline reporting, and improve the accuracy and efficiency of financial and commercial workflows.
5. Cross-Functional Business Partnership
- Build effective working relationships with Finance, Sales, Operations, IT, and Business Excellence to understand business priorities and provide relevant financial support.
- Collaborate with IT and Data Analytics teams to improve data quality, reporting functionality, and the accessibility of financial information for business decisions.
- Present analytical findings, communicate recommendations, and work with stakeholders to translate financial insights into actionable improvements.
6. Financial Reporting & Performance Monitoring
- Develop and maintain financial dashboards, profitability reports, commercial scorecards, and KPI tracking tools to monitor business performance.
- Investigate performance deviations, validate financial information, and ensure reporting accuracy, consistency, and alignment with internal standards.
- Prepare concise financial summaries, performance reviews, and recommendations for management, highlighting key trends, financial implications, and areas requiring attention.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field; CPA, CFA, or progress toward a professional designation is an asset.
- 4–5 years of progressive experience in Commercial Finance, Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A), Pricing Analysis, Financial Analysis, or Business Performance Analysis.
- Demonstrated experience independently managing complex financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, profitability assessments, and financial modelling.
