Role: DevOps Engineer II

FLSA: Full Time | Exempt | Salaried | Remote (US)

Reports to: Director of DevOps

Scope of Position: As a Dev Ops Engineer II, you are a member of a dynamic and agile DevOps team responsible for building the platforms, systems, and services that power our customer facing products. You will work closely with our Software Engineers as well as your Engineering Management leadership team to stay ahead of the curve with our products, architecture, and the latest DevOps principles. You will participate in driving operational best practices on your team and drive improvements as necessary. The DevOps Engineer II will also contribute to Trustwell's cloud-native platform initiatives, including Kubernetes (EKS), GitOps-based deployment models, infrastructure automation, container orchestration, and platform modernization efforts. This role will help design, build, operate, and continuously improve scalable application platforms and deployment systems that support Trustwell's product portfolio. 


Essential Duties & Responsibilities including but limited to:   

  • Be a part of an agile team that makes and keeps regular commitments 
  • Partner with a team of high-performing developers who are focused on delivering best in class software products 
  • Cultivate an automation-first attitude and work to champion code-centric solutions throughout our department to improve velocity and deliverability 
  • Participate in the design process 
  • Participate in incident response  
  • Develop tooling to surface the day-to-day health, uptime and reliability of our application 
  • Think long-term and avoid band-aids 
  • Identify unnecessary complexities and remove them 
  • Design, implement, and support Kubernetes-based application platforms using Amazon EKS 
  • Build and maintain GitOps deployment workflows using ArgoCD and Git-based deployment practices 
  • Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code using Terraform 
  • Support containerized workloads using Docker and Kubernetes 
  • Partner with engineering teams to modernize application deployment architectures 
  • Develop operational runbooks, documentation, and platform standards 
  • Participate in platform observability, monitoring, incident response, and reliability improvements 
  • Contribute to architecture reviews and cloud modernization initiatives 
  • Provide knowledge sharing and cross-training across engineering teams 
  • Other responsibilities as needed


Required Skills/Abilities 

  • Demonstrated ability to create and maintain technical documentation, operational runbooks, and knowledge-sharing materials 
  • Strong hands-on experience in Infrastructure-as-Code and Configuration management tools and technologies (Terraform, CloudFormation, or/and Ansible) 
  • Strong hands-on experience with containerization and orchestration technologies including Docker and Kubernetes 
  • Experience building and managing CI/CD pipelines (CircleCI, GitHub Actions, TeamCity, Jenkins, or similar technologies) 
  • Experience working on infrastructure projects in an Agile environment 
  • Ability to team up with people from different disciplines and drive to a win-win 
  • Automation first mindset and orientation 
  • Experience operating Kubernetes platforms in production environments, preferably Amazon EKS 
  • Experience with GitOps deployment models and tools such as ArgoCD, Flux, or similar technologies 
  • Strong understanding of AWS cloud services including networking, IAM, load balancing, monitoring, and container services 
  • Experience with observability and monitoring platforms such as Datadog, CloudWatch, Prometheus, Grafana, PagerDuty, or similar technologies 
  • Experience supporting highly available, scalable production systems 
  • Strong understanding of Git-based development workflows including branching strategies, pull requests, code reviews, and release management 
  • Strong Linux systems administration and troubleshooting skills 
  • Strong troubleshooting and operational problem-solving skills 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • AWS Certifications (Solutions Architect, Developer, SysOps, DevOps Engineer, etc.) 
  • Experience with Amazon EKS and Fargate 
  • Experience implementing GitOps with ArgoCD 
  • Experience operating production Kubernetes environments 
  • Experience with observability and incident management platforms 
  • Experience modernizing legacy application deployment architectures 


Education/Experience

  • 3-7 years of experience in DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering, Platform Engineering, Cloud Infrastructure Engineering, or a related discipline 
  • At least 4 years of experience operating production cloud environments such as Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and their associated services 
  • Experience supporting Kubernetes-based production workloads 
  • Experience with cloud-native architectures and modern deployment methodologies

The compensation for this role is based on several factors, including the candidate's experience, education, skills, and alignment with the responsibilities outlined for the role. The anticipated salary range for this role is listed below; with most candidates hired in the mid-range. This is position is eligible for annual bonus of up to 10% as well as participation in the Companies equity program.
