Production Floater

Summary

The Production Floater is responsible for supporting all phases of production operations by setting up, operating, and adjusting machinery to meet customer and quality specifications. This role requires the ability to read and interpret construction and customer requirement sheets, perform basic mathematical calculations, and proactively identify and report quality issues. The position collaborates with team members on machine setups, maintains accurate inventory of tools and supplies, and ensures a clean, organized, and safe work environment. Flexibility to work varying shifts and extended hours is required, along with a strong commitment to safety, quality, and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Read construction sheet and customer requirement sheet fully in order to meet the customer requirements.
  • Assisting co-workers in machine setups.
  • Exercise initiative to perform job duties without direction.
  • Ability to work day or night shift and extended hours as needed.
  • Requires mathematical skills in order to work with fractions, positive and negative numbers.
  • Report any quality problems to Supervisor immediately.
  • Work in a safe manner at all times by following the company safety policies and procedures.
  • Maintain a clean work environment by performing cleaning duties daily and on a weekly basis.
  • Make adjustments to machinery in order to get/keep material within desired specifications.
  • Keep a strict inventory of supplies needed and be responsible for all tools used to achieve duties.
  • Assist with all phases of operation which consists of machine preparation, loading hopper, loading rolls, commencing production, stopping production and cleaning.
  • Perform other related duties incidental to work described herein.

Education & Experience

  • GED/High School Diploma or previous manufacturing experience
  • Satisfactorily complete 3 months on-the-job training

Typical Physical Demands

  • Ability to perform physically demanding work for 8+ hours a day, including prolonged standing and walking, bending, and twisting.
  • Requires full range of motion including eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity.
  • Ability to lift and move up to 60 lbs. on a continuous basis.
  • Must possess basic math skills.
  • Able to wear required PPE, i.e., hard hats, safety vest, work boots, and/or safety glasses/goggles while working as required by the job.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: This is a full-time, non-exempt position. Days and hours of work are typically Monday through Friday but could include shift work, weekends, evenings and/or holidays - flexibility is required as job duties demand.
