The Global Logistics & Trade Compliance Manager owns VulcanForms' end-to-end logistics and trade compliance function. This includes inbound and outbound freight, customs brokerage, carrier contract management, 3PL and warehousing relationships, hazardous materials handling (including titanium powder), demurrage management, and the full trade compliance program — USTR filings, tariff strategy, ITAR/DFARS, and country-of-origin documentation. Reporting to the VP of Supply Chain and operating as a peer to the Global Category Managers, this leader builds and manages an initial team of a Trade Compliance Specialist and Import/Export Coordinator, and scales the function as VulcanForms grows.
• Own and continuously develop VulcanForms' global logistics strategy, including carrier relationships, inbound freight programs, outbound shipping to customers, and 3PL/warehousing partnerships.
• Lead all freight contract negotiations — parcel, LTL, FTL, air freight, and ocean — to deliver competitive rates, capacity assurance, and service-level performance.
• Own the full trade compliance program: HS/HTS classification, country-of-origin determination, ITAR and EAR compliance, USTR filings, denied party screenings, and duty drawback opportunities.
• Manage customs brokerage relationships and ensure all import and export declarations are accurate, timely, and compliant with applicable U.S. and international regulations.
• Develop and maintain the tariff impact model; partner with Finance and Procurement to quantify and mitigate tariff exposure on active and pipeline spend categories.
• Oversee all hazardous materials logistics, including titanium powder handling, packaging compliance, and carrier certifications; ensure zero regulatory incidents.
• Manage demurrage, detention, and carrier performance claims; maintain KPI dashboards for on-time delivery, freight cost per unit, and claim resolution.
• Implement and manage a Transportation Management System (TMS) or equivalent toolset to drive visibility, optimization, and reporting across the logistics network.
• Build, lead, and develop the Logistics & Trade Compliance team: initial headcount of Trade Compliance Specialist and Import/Export Coordinator, with a clear scaling plan.
• Develop and deliver trade compliance training, SOPs, and audit-readiness programs across the Supply Chain, Operations, and Engineering functions.
• Serve as VulcanForms' subject matter expert and escalation point on all trade and logistics regulatory matters, including ITAR classification, export license applications, and customs audits.
• Bachelor's degree required; degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, International Business, or a related field preferred.
• 12+ years of progressive logistics and/or trade compliance experience, with at least 5 years in a senior or director-level role with direct reports.
• Demonstrated experience building or leading a logistics function with significant freight spend responsibility ($50M+ preferred).
• Deep expertise in U.S. export regulations including ITAR and EAR, customs compliance, and international trade requirements.
• Proven track record managing TMS implementations, carrier contract negotiations, and 3PL performance programs.
• Experience with hazardous materials logistics, including DOT, IATA, and IMDG regulatory frameworks.
• Exceptional leadership skills with demonstrated ability to build, develop, and retain a high-performing team.
• Strong financial acumen including freight cost modeling, tariff impact analysis, and budget ownership.
• Outstanding communication and executive presentation skills; comfortable operating as a peer to senior business leaders.
• Experience in defense, aerospace, medical device, or advanced manufacturing environments — particularly those operating under ITAR or DFARS.
• Prior experience building a logistics or trade compliance function from early-stage in a high-growth environment.
• Familiarity with titanium, reactive metals, or other hazardous materials logistics in a manufacturing context.
• Licensed U.S. Customs Broker, CUSECO, or equivalent trade compliance certification.
• Experience managing ocean freight contracts and international trade lanes at significant scale.
• Familiarity with ERP systems and trade compliance platforms (Epicor, SAP GTS, Amber Road, or similar).
• CPSM, APICS CSCP, or equivalent supply chain certification.
