Opportunities at Workshop/APD

IT Support Specialist

About Workshop/APD

Workshop/APD is an award-winning, multidisciplinary architecture and design firm. From dramatic penthouses and seaside retreats to luxury residential developments and groundbreaking hotels and restaurants, our projects are uniquely defined by a sense of place and purpose and a desire to ultimately enhance users experience through exceptional design. Our aesthetic is timelessly modern but site-specific, unbound by project type or a singular style. Our diverse and collaborative team of creative architects, interior designers, product designers and graphic designers leverage vast and highly varied experiences to solve complex design challenges, resulting in holistic spaces, products and experiences that are exceptionally beautiful and accessible.

About the role

We're looking for a motivated IT Support Specialist to join our team and help keep our architects, interior designers, and product designers connected, productive, and supported.

Reporting to the IT Manager, you'll serve as the first point of contact for technical support across the studio. This is an excellent opportunity for someone early in their IT career who enjoys problem-solving, providing exceptional service, and learning new technologies in a collaborative and creative environment. This role is fully on-site for the first 90 days, then hybrid.

What you'll do

  • Provide Level 1 technical support to employees both in person and remotely
  • Troubleshoot hardware, software, mobile device, printer, and connectivity issues

  • Configure and deploy laptops, workstations, iPads, and peripherals
  • Administer Microsoft 365 and Entra ID accounts, groups, and licenses
  • Support conference room technology, AV systems, and Teams meeting spaces
  • Assist with endpoint management, software updates, patching, and device monitoring
  • Maintain hardware inventory, software licensing records, and IT documentation
  • Become familiar with our infrastructure, systems, hardware inventory, software accounts, and IT manual
  • Coordinate with third party vendors and service providers
  • Escalate complex technical issues to the IT Manager as needed

Our Environment

You will support a modern, cloud-first environment built for a design studio:

  • Endpoints: Dell laptops, with a fleet that is roughly 95% Windows and 5% Mac, plus iPads
  • Productivity and collaboration: Microsoft 365, Zoom, Egnyte, Miro, Notion, and Asana
  • Design applications: Autodesk, Adobe Creative Cloud, Bluebeam Revu, Rhino 3D, and Trimble SketchUp
  • Management and security: Microsoft Intune, NinjaOne, Cisco Meraki, CrowdStrike Falcon, and Check Point Harmony Email

Qualifications

  • 1-2 years of experience in IT support, help desk, or a similar role
  • CompTIA A+ certification or equivalent hands-on experience
  • Working knowledge of Windows 11 and Microsoft 365
  • Familiarity with Entra ID or Active Directory user administration
  • Basic understanding of networking concepts and troubleshooting
  • Exposure to macOS support
  • Strong communication skills and a customer-service mindset
  • Ability to explain technical concepts clearly to non-technical users
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or a related field
  • Experience supporting an architecture, engineering, or design-focused organization
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Intune, NinjaOne, Cisco Meraki, CrowdStrike, or similar platforms
  • Experience supporting design software such as Autodesk, Adobe Creative Cloud, Bluebeam, Rhino, or SketchUp
