About the role

  • As a Product Manager at Nmbr you will be at the forefront of shaping the future of Canadian payroll services. This role demands close collaboration with cross-functional teams to deliver innovative payroll solutions and financial products; including card services, earned wage access, and modernized payment methods.
  • In this pivotal role, you will work closely with leadership to align the product's vision with business goals, collaborate with engineering and UI/UX teams to ensure seamless integration and user experience, and engage with partners to enhance product offerings and drive sell-through. You will also stay on top of the latest payroll legislation to ensure our solutions not only comply with but anticipate changes in regulation. This position is ideal for entrepreneurial and creative thinkers looking to make a significant impact in how businesses manage their payroll systems, driving both innovation and growth.

What you'll do
  • Conduct thorough market research and analysis to identify emerging customer needs, industry trends, and the competitive landscape. This information will guide strategic decision-making across the product life cycle.
  • Translate intricate customer requirements and valuable market insights into clear product specifications and requirements. Ensure these reflect the evolving needs of the market and align with company goals.
  • Prioritize the product backlog effectively, balancing business value, market demands, and customer feedback to ensure focus on the most impactful initiatives.
  • Develop and execute comprehensive go-to-market plans, which include product positioning, pricing strategies, and the creation of marketing collateral, to ensure successful product launches and adoption.
  • Stay updated on payroll regulations, tax laws, and compliance requirements, incorporating this knowledge to maintain and enhance product compliance and relevance.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert and trusted advisor, providing guidance and insights to customers, prospects, and internal stakeholders, enhancing the credibility and utility of our solutions.
  • Keep informed of global  industry trends and emerging technologies. Utilize this knowledge to drive innovation within our payroll products, ensuring we stay ahead of the market curve.
  • Develop product requirements using a data-driven approach, incorporating inputs from various stakeholders, including executives and other product teams. Integrate these requirements into the product roadmap, providing accurate timelines and clear status updates back to stakeholders.
  • Identify new areas for feature development by analyzing customer feedback, market trends, and competitive gaps, ensuring our products continue to offer distinctive and valuable solutions.
  • Lead the assessment of partners' payroll products to identify gaps and potential improvements. Make decisions that not only meet end-user needs but also enhance compatibility with other products and consider the evolving landscape of work, such as access to earned wages.

Qualifications
  • 3+ years of product management or business analyst experience
  • Proven ability to synthesize and prioritize input from diverse sources including users, industry trends, competitive landscape, and internal stakeholders to guide product development.
  • Demonstrated understanding of various business functions beyond product management, such as sales, support, implementation, and compliance, reflecting a holistic view of product success.
  • Exceptional collaboration and relationship-building skills, with the capability to influence both internal teams and external partners effectively.
  • Experience navigating high levels of ambiguity, with a scrappy, solution-oriented approach that drives team success and delivers customer value.
  • Experience in HR, Payroll, Card Programs, Fintech is highly desirable. Familiarity with complex regulatory and operational domains is also beneficial.
  • Track record of leading substantial, cross-functional product initiatives over multiple quarters that have significantly impacted business growth.
  • Ability to work creatively in dynamic environments where innovative solutions are needed to address emerging business challenges.
  • Additional experience in high-growth B2B2B SaaS environments and developing products for small to medium-sized businesses is highly valued.
