Job Overview

The Fleet Manager is part of the team that delivers NOMAD’s engineered solutions.  The Fleet Manager oversees NOMAD’s fleet of Mobile Energy Storage Systems (ESS), including their operations, condition, location, maintenance status and overall performance.  The Fleet Manager ensures that the Mobile ESS fleet is being utilized to its fullest potential in a safe and cost-effective manner.  The Fleet Manager will manage the spare parts and maintenance consumables as well as direct and coordinate field technicians.   The Fleet Manager, in conjunction with the engineering team, will develop, coordinate and deliver training to NOMAD’s customers.  The Fleet Manager will be responsible for coordinating shipping and logistics for the Mobile ESS fleet.    

Work is based out of our Waterbury, Vermont office. This position may require travel to customer sites to facilitate system setup, installation, troubleshooting and repair, and general customer support. 

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Maintain visibility for entire NOMAD fleet. 
  • Manage fleet scheduling for transit, installation and maintenance.
  • Coordinate with potential and existing customers to discuss and plan for deployments, active testing and use cases.
  • Coordinate and direct Field Service Technicians.
  • Coordinate with KORE Solutions or other third-party service providers to streamline support requests related to fleet management.
  • Delegate engineering tasks related to fleet management to broader NOMAD engineering team.
  • Strong data analysis and reporting skills and comfortable to work within the NOMAD remote monitoring system to support fault resetting and troubleshooting.
  • Document, track and lead resolution of all fleet related issues
  • Coordinate and conduct FAT testing on equipment to validate adherence to system requirements.  
  • Train NOMAD employees and technicians on product operation, maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Coordinate training for NOMAD’s customers and partners in product operation, maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Understand all relevant safety standards to ensure safe interaction with NOMAD products.
  • Escalate safety concerns to appropriate engineering or OHS resources within NOMAD and KORE Solutions.
  • Ensure spare parts and maintenance inventory is maintained and distributed as necessary.
  • Responsible for maintaining documentation related to NOMAD product operation and transit.
  • Plays an active role in product development and design to ensure future products are compliant with fleet management standards (i.e., capture lessons learned in the field and incorporate into future design).
  • Stay current with NOMAD’s product offerings, component specifications, system design and engineering technology.
  • Knowledgeable in use of hand tools and basic electrical diagnostic equipment (e.g., multimeter). 

Qualifications

  • 3+ years’ experience in a leadership position
  • Strong understanding of electrical, mechanical and controls.  Previous experience with battery systems a plus
  • Exceptional technical and problem-solving skills and reasoning ability.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Must be self-motivated and a great team worker.
  • Knowledge of different electrical systems, blueprints, and power generation.
  • Must have strong computer skills and be capable of learning basic controls software.
  • Ability to read electrical documents and blueprints.
  • Understanding of safety procedures and legal codes and guidelines.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Ability to travel, 10% - 20%
  • BS in technical field and/or licensed electrician a plus
  • Experience in shipping and logistics a plus
Physical Requirements
  • Excellent oral and written communication. Ability to communicate customers, vendors, and co-workers.
  • Hearing and vision within normal ranges, with or without corrective lenses or an assisted hearing device.
  • Good manual dexterity is required for troubleshooting, repair and installation.
  • Some lifting is expected; occasional exertion of up to 50 lbs. of force may be required.
Work Environment
  • The job is primarily performed indoors in a traditional office environment. 
  • Secondary job requirements include travel with fieldwork which can consist of electrical equipment setup, operation, maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Extended periods of standing may be required.
