Head of Broker Relations

Novella is the first AI native insurance brokerage protecting some of the largest, most complicated physical assets in the world. Whether it’s sky scrapers on the Miami coast exposed to hurricanes, or rockets going to Mars - Novella’s specialty AI agents are trained to help insurance brokers find coverage for their highest-risk customers.

These high-risk customers are part of a $150 Billion per year market segment called Excess and Surplus (E&S) Insurance. Today, all $150B of E&S premium is sold manually by humans working with humans. Novella is the first brokerage building AI agents that can augment humans and superpower them.

We're building a world class team with backgrounds in AI and insurance, who are excited about making insurance brokers 100X better at their jobs.

The Role

We're seeking a Head of Broker Relations to get Novella into some of the largest retail brokerages in the country. Your mission is to build relationships with the top national retail brokerages and convince them that Novella is the wholesale partner they need for E&S placement.

The ideal candidate has proven experience getting new products or platforms adopted by large agencies. You understand how big brokerages evaluate and onboard new wholesale partners, you know the decision-makers, and you have a playbook for going from first meeting to active trading relationship. You've done this before at scale - not just with independent agents, but with the top 250 national retail brokerages.

This is a hunting role. We need someone who can open doors, tell a compelling story about what Novella offers, and turn those conversations into real submission flow.

The Day to Day

  • Develop and execute a strategy to get Novella appointed with the largest retail brokerages in the country.
  • Build relationships with decision-makers at top 500 national retail agencies - from branch managers to C-suite.
  • Lead the full sales cycle from prospecting and first meetings through onboarding and first submissions.
  • Create compelling presentations and materials that articulate Novella's value proposition to large agencies.
  • Work with our brokerage team to ensure a smooth onboarding experience that turns new appointments into active trading relationships.
  • Track pipeline metrics and report on progress toward agency appointment goals.
  • Attend industry events and conferences to build Novella's brand and expand your network.
  • Gather feedback from brokerages on what they need from a wholesale partner and bring those insights back to the team.

What We're Looking For

  • 8+ years in insurance distribution with significant experience working with large national retail brokerages.
  • Proven track record of getting new products, platforms, or wholesale operations adopted by top-tier agencies.
  • Deep relationships within the top 250 national retail brokerages - you know who makes the decisions about wholesale partners.
  • Experience selling into complex, multi-location brokerage organizations with long sales cycles.
  • Strong presentation and storytelling skills - you can make the case for why a brokerage should trade with Novella.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset - you're comfortable building a playbook from scratch, not just following one.
  • Someone flexible who understands every day at an early stage startup is like a decade in the corporate world. We move quickly and do whatever needs to get done no matter your title.
