Boston Legacy FC (the “Club”) is Boston’s new professional women’s soccer team, set to begin play in the National Women’s Soccer League in 2026. The Role
The Director of Stadium Operations is a senior operational leader responsible for planning, directing, and executing all stadium and game day operational activities. This role leads cross-functional coordination — spanning Facilities, Marketing & Fan Experience, Sporting, and external partners — ensures compliance with the NWSL League Operations Manual, and serves as the club’s primary operations liaison with stadium partners and the league. The position requires strong leadership, crisis management capabilities, and extensive experience managing live event operations at scale.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic & Operational Leadership
- Drive all aspects of stadium and event operations for home matches, ensuring game day readiness, coordination, and execution.
- Act as the club’s operational leader for stadium partners (Gillette Stadium, Centreville Bank Stadium, and White Stadium transition planning), maintaining high standards of service delivery and contract compliance.
- Provide senior-level leadership to staffing, vendor partners, and third-party service providers supporting operations, security, maintenance, and crowd management.
Game Day & Event Execution
- Create, standardize, and implement game day operational plans that align with fan experience expectations and organizational goals.
- Oversee logistics related to field access, broadcast needs, team arrival/departure flows, support areas (locker rooms, medical, officiating), and utilities coordination.
- Ensure operational consistency, incident responsiveness, and seamless interfaces with ticketing, fan experience, guest services and recovery, parking, and transportation.
- Serve as the primary NWSL stadium operations liaison, ensuring full compliance with league policies, procedures, and reporting requirements.
- Collaborate with counterparts across Marketing, Facilities, Sporting, and Legal to interpret league requirements and integrate them into operational plans and playbooks.
- Prepare and present compliance documentation, event assessments, and post-event reports to internal leadership and NWSL stakeholders.
Safety, Emergency Preparedness & Risk Management
- Own development and implementation of emergency response plans, risk assessments, and crisis protocols for all venues.
- Lead planning and execution of safety exercises, tabletop scenarios, and protocol trainings with internal staff, stadium partners, and public safety agencies.
- Monitor and evaluate operational risks, crowd dynamics, weather contingencies, and other safety considerations.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Align operations and support overall satisfaction efforts by collaborating with the fan experience and marketing teams to provide the ultimate operational experience prior to and day of matchday.
- Coordinate with Facilities on infrastructure readiness, utilities, maintenance, and vendor services.
- Liaise with Sporting Leadership to support team operational needs, pre-game setups, and competitive environments.
Budgeting & Performance Metrics
- Assist the VP of Facilities in operational budgeting, cost forecasting, and vendor negotiations.
- Track operational performance metrics, identify trends and opportunities, and recommend improvements.
What We’re Looking For
Minimum
- 5+ years of progressive leadership experience in stadium operations, venue management, event operations, or large-scale live event execution.
- Proven experience managing multi-stakeholder environments and serving as an organizational liaison with external partners.
- Familiarity with professional sports league operations standards and compliance expectations.
- Strong strategic planning skills and operational judgment under pressure.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; a collaborative leader comfortable engaging cross-functional teams.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Preferred
- Experience in professional soccer, NWSL, MLS, NFL, or major commercial venue operations.
- Prior leadership experience in multi-venue or transitional stadium environments.
- Background in safety protocol development, crowd management best practices, and emergency operations.
