Brief summary of role:
Obie is looking for enthusiastic, talented software engineers (React, GraphQL, Node.js) to join us to build our product, our team, and our company.
What you'll do:
- Write high-quality, high-performing, maintainable code
- Write automated tests for your code
- Design, develop and support software including applications, databases and APIs
- Coordinate cross-functionally to insure projects meet business objectives and compliance standards
- Support testing, quality assurance and deployment of new products and features
- Write and review code specifications and participate in code reviews
What you'll bring:
- Experience with React, Node.js, Typescript, relational databases, and unit/integration testing
- Experience with Agile or Scrum software development methodologies
- Ability to multitask, organize, and prioritize work
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work with distributed team members
- Bachelor's degree (Computer Science or related field) preferred, but not required
- 2+ years of relevant work experience

We want you at your best, and won't be giving you any gotcha-style questions - we aren't like that. We want to get to know you, hear about what you're interested in, and learn about what you hope to do in the future.

Meet us and learn about Obie: You'll first talk with a member of our People Ops on a 30 minute call; you won't need to prepare anything in advance. The goal of this conversation is to get to know you and mutually explore if we might be a good fit for each other. You'll learn more about Obie and have a chance to ask any questions about our company, team, culture, and product.
Meet a Member of the Engineering Leadership team: You'll get to have a 45 minute video interview with one of our Engineering leaders. This discussion will be more technical in nature to ensure you have the skills needed to be successful in the role.
Take Home Coding Challenge: This role requires strong technical and problem solving skills. You’ll be provided a take home challenge to build a small application using react and node.js. We'll be looking to see your problem solving abilities as well as your ability to write clean code.
Live Pair Session: You’ll meet with two engineers over a video call to go over your coding challenge and to assess additional technical skills that the coding challenge did not cover.
