Our Chicago based employees are hybrid, and expected to be in office on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Brief summary of role:
We are seeking a strong individual contributor to join our growing insurance product team as an Insurance Sr Product Analyst focused on developing and executing strategic plans for profitable growth.

Those successful in this role will have a strong knowledge in the property insurance space, preferably surplus lines, with a passion for delivering new products and utilizing insurance expertise to solve challenges.

Additionally, you’ll be self-motivated and directed.  An ability to collaborate is a must, but you will be autonomous and expected to succeed without heavy direction and being an expert.

What you'll do:
  • Assist the insurance product managers in developing and implementing rate revisions, state expansion, and product development plans that enable Obie to meet our goals
  • Leverage analytical and communication skills to collaborate across teams to develop insurance products and services
  • Assist in completing competitive market analysis including forms comparison, product offerings and comparisons, and monitoring competitor state changes
  • Improve the products using contract language, underwriting guidelines and manuals, and technology enhancements
  • Partner closely with Technology Product and Engineering teams to articulate, develop, and validate technology features and enhancements
  • Use customer and data insights from the market, our sales funnel, competitors, and claims to inform insurance product development
  • Enhance tools, processes, and frameworks to bring insurance products to market
What you'll bring:
  • 3+ years working in a property insurance product management role
  • We are looking for someone who has experience with several of the following: forms development, underwriting knowledge, business case development, writing specs for engineering, start-ups, MGA’s, and non-admitted lines
  • Knowledge of insurance product management principles, frameworks, and best practices
  • Experience researching competitor products, developing and enhancing product/contract language and underwriting guidelines
  • Ability to conduct quantitative and qualitative analysis to evaluate performance across various products and segments
  • Strong communication and project management skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with people at all levels across the company
  • Ability to succinctly communicate results and recommendations to leadership
  • Ability to explain business logic to technical and non-technical team members
  • Positive “can do” attitude and a desire to contribute to a growing, energetic work environment
  • Detail oriented with the ability to prioritize competing demands and manage time effectively

1. Meet us and learn about Obie
You'll first talk to a member of the People Ops team on a 30 minute call; you won't need to prepare anything in advance. The goal of this conversation is to get to know you and mutually explore if we might be a good fit for each other. You'll learn more about Obie and have a chance to ask any questions about our company, team, culture, and product.

2. Meet the hiring manager
You'll get to have a 45 minute video interview with the hiring manager, Judson Taylor. This discussion will be more technical in nature to ensure you have the skills needed to be successful in the role.

3. Project Exercise
This role requires strong analytical, collaboration, and communication skills, so we'll also present you with a short exercise to complete to provide you a chance to flex those muscles. You will be able to complete this exercise on your own time, so please be thorough and use the resources available to you. More on this when you get there!

4. Meet the team
Since you'll be joining a close-knit team, we'll ask you to meet other people in the company so we get to know each other a bit better.
