Executive Director of Business Development

With over 30 years of experience, OBR Cooling Towers strives to provide exceptional services to clients nationwide. Our company specializes in services like custom engineering, inspections, mechanical equipment services, corrosion protection, steel component repairs, thermal upgrades, structure replacements, and new tower construction.

The Executive Director of Business Development is a strategic leadership role responsible for identifying, developing, and executing growth opportunities for OBR. This individual will lead the business development team, forge strategic partnerships, and drive revenue growth through innovative strategies, market expansion, and relationship management. The Executive Director of Business Development will report to the Vice President of Business Development and travel is required.


WORK LOCATION: This role will be based in either our Northwood, OH or Columbus, OH office. Candidates must reside in one of these areas, as regular on-site presence is required.

 

ROLES/TASKS OF THE POSITION

  • Develop and implement business development strategies aligned with OBR’s long-term goals.
  • Identify new markets, emerging trends, and potential areas for expansion.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Marketing to plan and implement outreach campaigns.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders and clients.
  • Calls on Manager, Director, VP and C-Suite levels to build opportunities for all OBR Companies.
  • Drive revenue growth through new business opportunities and strategic initiatives.
  • Collaborate with sales, marketing, and other team members to align business development efforts.
  • Manage, lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing business development team while adhering to the targets and strategies set by the executive team of OBR.
  • Set performance goals and ensure accountability across the business development department.
  • Conduct competitive analysis and market research to make informed strategic decisions.
  • Provide regular updates to the executive team on business development performance, pipeline status, and strategic initiatives.
  • Attends conferences and social events around the country to develop relationships in the pursuit of new business opportunities.
  • Use data driven insights to refine and optimize business development efforts.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Marketing, or related Field. 
  • MBA preferred.
  • A minimum of 10+ years’ experience in business development, sales, or strategic partnership with at least 5 years in a senior management position.
  • Proven track record of driving revenue growth and closing complex deals.
  • Strong leadership, negotiation, and communication skills.
  • Deep understanding of market dynamics and customer behavior.
  • Ability to think strategically and execute methodically.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage confidential information with integrity.
  • Effective communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Self-starter with willingness to learn, collaborate, and contribute.
  • Construction/manufacturing/industrial experience required.
