The opportunity:

Odyssey is seeking a Director of Clinical Data Sciences to provide strategic and operational leadership across all clinical data management and data sciences activities in our clinical development portfolio. Reporting to the Head of Clinical Operations, you'll ensure the delivery of high-quality, reliable, and inspection-ready clinical trial data — while building the scalable processes, governance frameworks, and vendor oversight models that will support our growth.

You'll partner closely with clinical operations, biostatistics, statistical programming, medical monitoring, regulatory affairs, pharmacovigilance, business development and external service providers to drive operational excellence and enable data-driven decision-making across the organization.

This is a builder's role: one that balances strategic leadership with hands-on engagement in study execution, process development, and the organizational initiatives that will define how clinical data sciences scales at Odyssey.

Your primary objectives will be:  

  • Develop and build clinical data sciences function within the company establishing scalable data management processes, data standards, and governance models that support portfolio / program growth
  • Develop and execute clinical data management strategy to support the company's clinical development objectives
  • Develop data collection strategy and best practice standards to support development programs
  • Serve as the subject matter expert for clinical data management within the organization
  • Provide leadership and oversight for all clinical data management and clinical data sciences activities across ongoing and planned studies
  • Advise/Implement operational metrics and dashboards to monitor performance and identify opportunities for improvement
  • Ensure inspection readiness through compliant documentation, controlled processes, and audit preparedness
  • Support regulatory inspections, audits, and submission activities
  • Evaluate and implement technologies that improve efficiency, data quality, and visibility
  • Build, mentor, and develop clinical data management staff
  • Support portfolio / program-level planning and study prioritization activities
  • Other related duties as may be determined or assigned

 

About you:

  • BS/MS in a relevant discipline with 12+ years of clinical data management experience in a sponsor and/or CRO setting; life sciences background a plus
  • Comprehensive knowledge of drug development and clinical research processes, GCP guidelines, regulations, and industry data standards related to clinical data management
  • Deep expertise in data management systems and technologies, including EDC and data analytics platforms
  • Experience building or scaling clinical data management capabilities within a growing organization, including vendor oversight and governance
  • Strategic leadership and organizational development skills, with strong cross-functional influence and stakeholder management
  • Critical thinker who operates with urgency in fast-paced environments, creating solutions and enabling decisions both autonomously and as part of a collaborative team
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, with a commitment to quality and the highest standards of professionalism and ethics

The range provided is based on what we believe is a reasonable estimate for the base salary pay range for this job at the time of posting. Actual base salary pay will be based on a number of factors, including skills, competencies, experience, and other job-related factors permitted by law.

 

The pay range for this role is:

179,602 - 269,402 USD per year (Boston)
