The Opportunity
We are seeking a Development Software Engineer to own and evolve our internal backend applications that power data operations, customer support workflows, and AI-assisted tooling. Although these systems are internal, they are business-critical and directly impact customer-facing products, data accuracy, and operational reliability.
This role provides dedicated engineering ownership for internal tools built with ReTool, AWS (Lambda, DynamoDB), PostgreSQL, and emerging AI workflows. You will bring structure, reliability, and scalability to systems that are currently fragmented across teams and contributors, enabling the company to grow without increasing operational risk.
Responsibilities
- Own the design, development, and maintenance of internal applications that support data acquisition, customer success, and AI-assisted workflows.
- Build and maintain internal tools using ReTool, ensuring reliability, usability, and scalability.
- Develop backend services and integrations using:
- AWS Lambda
- DynamoDB (schema design, access patterns, and data integrity)
- PostgreSQL (database design, queries, and integrations)
- Serve as the primary engineering owner for the Data Acquisition Management System (K4), supporting core ingestion, processing, and operational workflows.
- Build and enhance internal tools used by Customer Success and Support teams to investigate issues, respond to customer requests, and resolve incidents efficiently.
- Support and evolve AI-assisted internal tools, including workflows powered by LLMs, prompts, agents, embeddings, and automation.
- Apply and uphold standard SDLC practices, including code reviews, testing, deployment, and documentation.
- Work within a Scrum-based development process, participating in sprint planning, backlog refinement, and retrospectives.
- Collaborate closely with Data, Customer Success, and AI stakeholders to intake requirements, prioritize work, and deliver predictable outcomes.
- Reduce technical debt and operational risk by improving system stability, monitoring, and error handling.
- Ensure internal systems remain trustworthy, scalable, and aligned with customer-facing data and product needs.
Qualifications
- 3–5 years of professional experience with JavaScript, including backend development and integrations.
- At least 2 years of experience working with AI-driven systems, including:
- Prompt engineering
- Large Language Models (LLMs)
- At least 1 year of experience working with AI-driven systems, including:
- Context Engineering
- Agent-based workflows or automation
- Agent Evals and Chain-of-Thought (CoT) analysis
- Experience building and maintaining internal applications using low-code / no-code platforms (e.g., ReTool).
- Strong experience designing, querying, and maintaining PostgreSQL databases.
- Hands-on experience with AWS services, particularly Lambda and DynamoDB.
- Solid understanding of AI concepts and limitations, with the ability to apply them safely and effectively in production workflows.
- Experience working within a Scrum / Agile software development process, including participation in ceremonies and backlog-driven delivery.
- Ability to complete assigned tasks independently, follow established processes and direction, and work effectively with cross-functional stakeholders.
- Engineer must supply their own Apple computer, meeting company-defined minimum requirements (documented separately).
Benefits:
- OneClick Code offers generous PTO and 9 paid US company holidays.
- While we currently do not offer medical, dental, or vision insurance, we do provide a reimbursement program to help offset private health insurance expenses. Employees are eligible for up to $125 USD per month in reimbursements for qualifying private health insurance costs.
