About The Role

We are looking for a cloud platform specialist to join our superstar team in Calgary, Alberta or remotely. In a small, flexible team, you’ll have the opportunity to work on projects across site reliability engineering, platform engineering, developer experience and security. More specifically, you’ll help create pipelines, processes, infrastructure and services upon which application developers can build to advance our products and position in the marketplace.

The successful candidate will understand when to follow and when to lead. They will be able to break down complex challenges into contained tasks. They will be able to adapt fluidly to engage readily new, unfamiliar challenges.

What You'll Be Doing:

Partner with product and application development to identify friction and pain points in our engineering practices. Understand the costs and benefits of these opportunities and be able offer up both, long term and short term solutions.
Champion observability, monitoring, performance tracking and alerting among application development teams and lead them by example to successful practices. Help them be informed and responsible owners of the services that they support.
Be able to communicate complex ideas laterally and vertically through the organisation. Communicate with clarity with non-technical staff.
Help build a culture of continuous improvement in all areas of our engineering practice.
Program and write maintainable and well-documented scripts/applications for process automation

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, statistics, mathematics, or engineering.
3-4+ years of relevant experience with cloud-native SaaS organisations.
Experience with infrastructure as code tools (Terraform) and best practices.
Proficient at scripting in bash or python.

Bonus:

Previous experience at a dynamic FinTech, high growth startup and/or scale up
Experience with managing infrastructure and resource provisioning.
Experience with a MERN stack (especially Typescript + MongoDB), or with AWS cloud services such as SNS/SQS, Fargate and Lambda Functions.
Experience with database administration, especially MongoDB.
