Job Purpose
The Network Engineer II will provide network administration as part of the OnX Canada infrastructure team. This includes executing procedures for break/fix repair, troubleshooting network issues, handling change requests, and performing scheduled maintenance. The role will assist in network design, implementation, and support of network devices, as well as creating customer network documentation.
Essential Functions
- 75% – Provide network administration as a member of the team.
- 10% – Write and maintain systems documentation and network diagrams; develop procedures and guidelines for network administration.
- 10% – Assist with network design and configuration.
- 5% – Conduct network capacity analysis, oversee managed customers’ capacity, and monitor threshold alarms.
- Perform onsite work at various customer locations.
- Participate in on-call rotation for escalation support in a 24x7 operational environment; travel as needed to provide planned or emergency support.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
- Cisco CCNP certification preferred.
- Network+ certification.
Experience / Background
- 5+ years enterprise IT infrastructure networking experience.
- Experience in mission-critical, 24x7 high availability environments.
- Proficiency with troubleshooting tools such as ping, traceroute, nslookup, dig, Wireshark.
- Understanding of IP subnetting and variable length subnet masks.
- Experience with dynamic routing (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, RIP).
- Experience with wireless controllers and access points administration and troubleshooting.
- Some hands-on experience with Cisco ACI configuration and management.
- Working knowledge of Cisco technologies: Catalyst, Nexus, Umbrella, Wireless, Catalyst Center, ISE, SNA.
- Experience setting up WAN connections, site-to-site VPNs, and client VPNs.
- Experience with stateful and next-generation firewalls (Fortigate, Palo Alto, Cisco ASA, FTD+FMC, CheckPoint).
- Exposure to hybrid or blended cloud/on-prem environments (AWS, Azure).
Special Knowledge / Skills
- Ability to analyze and improve existing systems and architectures.
- Able to work efficiently in multi-task environments under pressure.
- Strong communication skills for documenting and explaining procedures.
- Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills.
- Additional industry certifications (AWS, Microsoft) are an asset.
- ITIL certification preferred.

The pay range for this role is:
75,000 - 95,000 CAD per year (Toronto Office - NOC)
