Job Purpose

Provide network administration as a member of the OnX Canada infrastructure team. Execute procedures for break/fix repair, troubleshoot network related issues, change requests, and scheduled maintenance. Responsible for assisting in the network design, along with implementation and support of network devices. Responsible for customer network and procedure documentation.


Senior Network Engineer will also be responsible for network infrastructure discovery, design, implementation, and operations for client networking infrastructure/network projects.

Essential Functions

50% - Provide network administration as a member of the team

25% - Write, and maintain systems documentation and network diagrams; work with team leads to develop procedures and guidelines for implementation and management of network administration

20% - Network design and configuration

5% - Network capacity analysis, responsible for overview of managed customers capacity and proactive threshold alarms

Hybrid, but plan for some work onsite at customer's facility

Participate in on-call rotation for escalation support of technical issues, supporting the 24x7 operation environment; able to travel to provide planned and timely emergency support, as required


Education

Four years of University resulting in a Bachelor's Degree or equivalent

Cisco CCNP or above certification preferred

Network+ certification

Experience/Background

10+ years’ Enterprise IT Infrastructure networking experience

Experience with mission critical, 24x7 high availability environments required

Working with troubleshooting tools such as ping, traceroute, nslookup, dig, wireshark

Good understanding of IP sub netting including variable length subnet masks

Experience with advanced dynamic routing and understanding of longest-match qualifier

Experience with the following routing protocols: BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, and RIP

Extensive hands on experience in the configuration and management of Cisco ACI

Working knowledge of Cisco products and technologies, such as Umbrella, wireless, Catalyst Center, ISE, SNA

Experience setting up Site-to-Site VPNs along with client VPNs

Experience with stateful and Next Generation Firewalls including Palo Alto, Cisco ASA and FTD+FMC, CheckPoint.

Experience with hybrid or blended cloud/on prem environments (AWS/Azure)


Special Knowledge/Skills

Ability to analysis and improve on existing systems and architectures.

Able to function efficiently in a multi-task environment and work under pressure.

Expert communication skills, including the ability to document and demonstrate procedures and processes.

A strong team player, strong interpersonal and team building skills

Other industry certifications (e.g. VMware, Microsoft Certifications) definite assets.

ITIL certification is preferred.

The pay range for this role is:

112,000 - 135,000 CAD per year (Remote - Canada)
