Job Description

 

Overview

The Cloud Engineer is responsible for supporting and maintaining network, cloud, and infrastructure systems with a strong emphasis on AWS networking and firewall management. This role plays a key part in ensuring the reliability, performance, and security of infrastructure across AWS and on-premises environments.


This position is network-focused, requiring hands-on experience with Palo Alto firewalls and core networking concepts, while also supporting AWS cloud services and system administration tasks. The role works closely with application, database, and security teams to support deployments, troubleshoot issues, and maintain operational stability.

This role supports infrastructure operations within the United States and collaborates with cross-functional teams to ensure stable and secure environments.

Education

Minimum required: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent work experience) and Relevant technical certifications (AWS or Networking)

Span of Control:

Reports to: Cloud Engineering Manager

Oversight:  This position has no direct reports

Roles/ Responsibilities

  • Support and manage Multi Account AWS cloud environments, including but not limited to VPC, EC2, Route 53 and other Core AWS Services.
  • Manage and support AWS and Onsite network infrastructure, including routing, connectivity, and firewall configurations
  • Administer and maintain Palo Alto firewalls, including policy management, VPNs, and security configurations
  • Monitor system and network performance, respond to alerts and participate in incident response and on-call rotation
  • Troubleshoot infrastructure, network, and cloud-related issues across environments
  • Assist with infrastructure deployments, changes, and upgrades in collaboration with engineering teams
  • Contribute to automation and process improvements to enhance operational efficiency
  • Maintain documentation of configurations, processes, and procedures

 

Qualifications

Minimum required:

  • 5+ years of experience in infrastructure, networking, or cloud engineering roles
  • Strong knowledge of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, routing, VPNs, etc.)
  • Hands-on experience with Palo Alto firewalls
  • Experience working with AWS core services (VPC, EC2, CloudWatch, Route 53)
  • Must have AWS certification(s)
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills

Preferred:

  • Experience with Linux system administration
  • Exposure to Windows server environments
  • Familiarity with GitLab and Atlassian tools (Jira, Confluence, Tempo)
  • Experience with infrastructure monitoring and alerting tools
  • Basic scripting or automation experience (e.g., Bash, Python, PowerShell)

Organizational Interlocks

This position will work closely with internal stakeholders including development, database, security, and network teams. Additionally, the role with work with external vendors.

 

Physical Demands/  Travel required

Work associated with this position is sedentary in nature and performed indoors at a desk either remotely or in an office setting.

Travel for this position is less than 10%.

This position is hybrid in office and remote.

This position requires participation in an on-call rotation.
