Position Summary

The Assembler 1 is responsible for performing a variety of manufacturing and manual assembly tasks to produce high-quality firearm components and sub-assemblies in a fast-paced production environment. This role supports daily production targets, maintains adherence to company standards, and collaborates with Team Leads and cross-functional partners to ensure operational efficiency, safety, and continuous improvement. The Assembler 1 demonstrates strong attention to detail, the ability to test fire multiple firearms, accountability and commitment to quality workmanship.


Position Details

Department: Assembly
Reports To: Team Lead / Production Supervisor
Shift: Primarily First Shift (Daytime, Monday–Thursday); flexibility required based on production needs
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt


Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Production & Assembly Operations

  • Perform assigned manual assembly jobs and tasks as directed by the Team Lead, meeting established quality and workmanship standards.
  • Execute manufacturing processes to produce components and sub-assemblies according to work instructions, drawings, and specifications.
  • Meet daily production targets and maintain consistent output in alignment with department goals.
  • Maintain strong attention to detail to ensure product quality and compliance with company standards.
  • Coordinate job changeovers to ensure all required materials, tools, and documentation are prepared for efficient transitions.
  • Test fire, clean and inspect multiple types of firearms.


Equipment & Process Support

  • Follow established equipment maintenance schedules and report any irregularities or concerns.
  • Collaborate with Team Leads to troubleshoot equipment or process-related issues.
  • Ensure proper use and care of tools, fixtures, and production equipment.
  • Maintain clean and organized work areas in accordance with 5S and safety standards.


Quality & Continuous Improvement

  • Participate in responses to quality issues and support corrective actions as needed.
  • Assist with production-related projects, problem-solving efforts, and improvement initiatives.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement efforts focused on efficiency, waste reduction, and process optimization.
  • Support compliance with quality standards, inspection methods, and documented procedures.


Training, Safety & Team Collaboration

  • Complete required annual and ongoing training assignments.
  • Participate in routine safety, quality, and work skills training activities.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members and leadership to meet departmental and company objectives.
  • Promote safe work practices and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Authority & Decision Rights

  • Responsible for performing assigned work in accordance with established procedures and quality standards.
  • Expected to escalate equipment, safety, or quality concerns to the Team Lead in a timely manner.


Performance Indicators (KPIs)

  • Daily production output vs. target
  • First-pass yield / defect rate
  • On-time completion of assigned tasks
  • Participation in continuous improvement initiatives
  • Safety compliance and attendance


Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 3+ years of experience in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Familiarity with common inspection methods and manufacturing processes.
  • Proficiency in the use of hand tools.
  • Ability to follow written instructions, technical documentation, and production schedules.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Must be a U.S. person within the meaning of ITAR regulations.
  • Must not be a prohibited person under the Gun Control Act (18 U.S.C. § 922(g)).


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing principles.
  • Experience with continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and ERP software.
  • Prior experience in a regulated manufacturing environment.


Security & Regulatory Requirements

  • This position requires access to hardware and/or technical data subject to International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). All applicants must meet ITAR eligibility requirements.
  • Must meet requirements under the Gun Control Act (GCA), 18 U.S.C. § 922(g).

  

Physical Requirements & Work Environment

  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, and reaching in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to lift up to 65 lbs with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Exposure to production-floor conditions, including noise and machinery.
  • Regular use of hand tools and equipment requiring manual dexterity and visual acuity.


Work Schedule & Expectations

  • Full-time hourly position.
  • Primarily first shift (Monday–Thursday daytime), with flexibility to adjust hours as needed to support production demands.
