ABOUT THE ROLE:

Orion180 is seeking a JR Regulatory Counsel to join our Legal and Compliance team in Melbourne, FL. This individual will play a critical role in advancing Orion180’s compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies. This is a unique opportunity to grow professionally while working closely with business leaders and cross-functional teams to support compliance, manage risk, and drive business success.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

• Analyze & Advise: Review statutory and legal changes to determine their compliance impact on all Orion180 lines of business.
• Monitor Regulatory Developments: Stay current on bulletins, circulars, and alerts to ensure company-wide compliance.
• Support Investigations: Assist with regulatory inquiries and consumer complaints from state Departments of Insurance.
• Collaborate Cross-Functionally: Participate in compliance initiatives and work with internal teams to maintain adherence to laws and regulations.
• Contract Oversight: Review and make recommendations for vendor contracts and agreements to ensure compliance.
• Policy Development: Create, review, and maintain internal policies and procedures.
• Legal Guidance: Advise stakeholders on legal risks and obligations, balancing legal considerations with business objectives.
• Research & Drafting: Conduct legal research and prepare memorandums of law on state and federal statutes and regulations.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR:

Education & Licenses:

• Bachelor’s Degree required.
• J.D. required.
• Florida Bar licensure preferred.

Experience & Knowledge:

• State insurance department or regulatory compliance experience strongly preferred.
• P&C insurance experience is a plus.
• Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Strategic thinker with strong problem-solving skills.

While performing general duties for this position, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, and/or walk around (including the use of stairs). Other demands include the ability to openly communicate with others by talking, listening, comprehending, and reading; being able to lift light objects (<25 lbs); and using standard office equipment such as computers, printers, and phones.  In addition, there is an occasional need to bend, twist, or squat down to open/close cabinets and reach for files or other standard office-type objects.
