Analytical Scientist, RNA Production and Research Optimization (CONTRACT)

We are seeking an exceptional Scientist to join our RNA Production, Research, and Optimization (PRO) team. This position will focus on developing and executing novel methods to characterize RNA and other active biologicals on their own and in various formulation concepts. The successful candidate will have in-depth experience with analytical chemistry techniques such as HPLC, CE, biophysical, cell-based techniques, and strong hands-on experience with PCR and ELISAs with MSD focus. The ideal candidate will possess strong interpersonal skills, the ability to thrive in a cross-functional team, successfully manage and lead a small team, work in a fast-paced environment, have strong technical, organizational, and communication skills, and the ability and drive to maintain commitment to scientific excellence and high-quality work in a milestone-driven company.


Responsibilities

  • Lead a small analytical team and provide technical guidance and mentorship to one or more Scientists / Research Associates.
  • Develop and execute HPLC, CE, and other methods to quantify and characterize RNA and other active biologicals for various RNA therapeutics in development.
  • Develop novel assays to quantify drug substance components, characterize impurities and process residuals.
  • Advance analytical technology and lead innovation to enable deep characterization of RNA products and support the RNA process development.
  • Collaborate, provide scientific leadership, analyze, summarize, and present technical data in a cross-functional setting.


Qualifications

  • Expertise in analytical chemistry, biochemistry, biology, molecular biology or a related field and either:
    • Ph.D. +2 yrs relevant industry experience
    • M.S. +7 yrs relevant industry experience
    • B.S. + 12 yrs relevant industry experience
  • Extensive hands-on experience with (U)HPLC and CE required, including troubleshooting, operating, and development of analytical methods for biomolecules.
  • Protein experience including techniques such as CE, SDS-PAGE, etc. is preferred.
  • Strong technical background in biochemistry, with hands-on experience working with nucleic acids and other biomolecules preferred.
  • Proven track record of successful method development, including fit-for-purpose assay validations.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented to be able to manage multiple projects and communicate progress and risks.
