About OurCalling

OurCalling is a ministry specifically focused on the unsheltered homeless community. We operate an outreach center for the homeless community near downtown Dallas. We are passionate about loving and helping the unsheltered homeless transition to better lives. We are a faith-based ministry where every job is a ministry position. Each staff member should be able to clearly share the Gospel and communicate their own testimony. While everyone on the team wears multiple hats, our primary function is getting people off the street and helping them walk with Jesus. We want everything that we do to point to Jesus. We serve 200-400 guests daily. We are a “zero-barrier” facility that is welcoming and compassionate to all who enter.

Salary: $60,000 / year


Job Summary:
The Men’s Care Team Manager leads the Men’s Care Team by equipping and training their staff to do their most excellent work by directing, guiding, and organizing their tasks and goals for Guest engagement. We primarily serve the chronically, unsheltered homeless population. Our homeless friends, or Guests, are survivors who have experienced vast amounts of trauma. This Manager will use resources, services, and relationships to create opportunities for Gospel-centered conversations. This Manager is intentional in interactions to demonstrate to his/her team, Guests, and volunteers how to live out the truths of the Gospel and let the love of Christ control our actions. This Manager meets weekly with the Director of Programs and the other Program Team Managers. This Manager will collaborate with other internal teams as well as outside agencies and businesses in regards to quality care of the unsheltered homeless population.


Job Responsibilities:

  • As leader of the Men’s Care Team, lead team meetings, including:
    • Weekly 1-on-1 meetings, Annual Reviews, and other meetings as necessary
  • Train Men’s Care team in relational ministry with our Guests using the 2-Question Model: Will you trust Jesus? Can I help you get off the streets?
  • Manage teachers and schedule for the Recovery and Bible Study classes for men
  • Serve Guests, at times, through crisis intervention and/or emotional de-escalation
  • Set performance expectations and goals for the team
  • Manage Expense and PTO submissions by Men’s Care Team members
  • Manage the relationship between the Men’s Care Minister Team and the Placement Team
  • Lead, Manage, and hold Men’s Care Team staff accountable related to achieving OurCalling’s mission and team Key Performance Indicators
  • Manage Men’s Care Team in collaboration with Placement Solutions Team to ensure their compliance with placement protocols related to exit plans for Guests who are seeking to get off the streets
  • Advise and advocate for homeless Guests who are navigating social services in Dallas to escape the streets, while walking alongside them through the process
  • Model and teach team how to track and record relationship-building case notes through in-house case management system.
  • Actively manage self-care to remain fresh and strong as a minister to our Guests

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree, required; concentrations in psychology, counseling, sociology, social work, philosophy, theology or other similar degree programs, highly preferred
  • Experience working with people who have mental illness, addictions, significant trauma, and/or medical issues, required
  • Experience leading multiple team members, highly preferred
  • Three years of related lived experience or outreach and compassion ministry experience, required 
  • Experience in pastoral care toward those struggling with addiction, mental illness, abandonment, homelessness, trauma, medical issues, and poverty, preferred
  • Experience in trauma-informed care is helpful

Skills and Abilities: 

  • Knowledge of the Bible and comfortable witnessing, discipling, and encouraging our Guests, volunteers, and your team
  • Comfortable leading groups of volunteers
  • Resolve conflict that may occur between team members
  • Direct staff towards achieving OurCalling and team goals and objectives
  • Must have a demonstrable track record of maturity, integrity, taking personal initiative, being flexible in a busy and fast-paced environment, and a trusted leader, that has worked effectively across departmental lines
  • Able to lift boxes, drive a van, walk long distances, and use an iPad to track case notes
  • Willing to help Guests with human hygiene challenges
  • Humble with the ability to listen well and accept constructive feedback from ministry members
