Job Summary and Responsibilities: The Security Officer (SO) role is a full time position that reports to the Security Manager. The SO’s primary responsibility will be to provide security coverage during OurCalling’s normal service hours Monday through Saturday each week. The SO will be a minimum Level III licensed officer as part of the Security team and is responsible for maintaining an environment conducive to safety. All Security Team members are considered the “first-responders” to any security-related issue including proactively protecting our guests, staff, and volunteers from threatening behaviors.  Responsibilities also include operating or utilizing all security protocols, procedures, and support systems including security technologies, in a manner that is consistent with the mission of our ministry. The position will be 40 hours per week.

Other responsibilities will include the following:

• Protect guests, staff, volunteers, and visitors on premises and during entry and exiting off of the property
• Patrol, secure, and conduct regular checks of the entire OurCalling premises
• Remain vigilant of and investigate suspicious activity
• Write detailed reports including incident reports, suspicious activities reports, and other reports as necessary
• Proficiency with technology for data entry, recordkeeping, writing reports, etc.
• Report maintenance issues or hazards
• Use de-escalation tactics, including appropriate physical force when necessary, to maintain peace and order
• This position requires some Saturdays and evenings to accommodate the ministry schedule
• Work overnight shifts for inclement weather days according to OurCalling protocol
• Always represent the ministry as a disciple of Christ

Experience/Background:

• High school graduate or equivalent, required
• Minimum 2 years’ experience as licensed Level III security officer
• Proof of licensure and training for each apparatus in tool belt
• Up-to-date firearm, safety, and apparatus trainings

Skills and Abilities:

• Excellent organizational skills and detailed-oriented
• Efficient problem solver and effective working across departmental lines 
• Excellent time management skills
• Flexible in a busy and fast-paced environment
• Excellent listener with strong interpersonal communication skills
• Comfortable working collaboratively
• Ability to stand for long periods of time and work overnight shifts, as needed
