POSITION TITLE: Senior Electrical Engineer
LOCATION: Lehi, UT (Hybrid, one day/week onsite)
BUSINESS UNIT: Engineering
SUMMARY:
Owlet is looking for a Senior Electrical Engineer to help us build on our infant health offering. The person in this role can expect to research, design, prototype, and build amazing products that will help caregivers better support those in their care. This role would be responsible for challenging known design solutions to find an innovative approach to new product development. This role would be in the hardware development group within Owlet, but would work closely with a cross functional team. We’re looking for someone who is willing to critically evaluate engineering problems, and use a hands-on approach to finding solutions that broaden our current capability. Our goal is to create products that will integrate as seamlessly as possible into the lives of caregivers.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
● Design, model, and test prototypes for new design concepts.
● Work with a cross functional development team on innovative products.
● Work closely with vendors to develop functional prototypes, and support product development.
● Develop concepts and ideas for new products or methods to improve existing products.
● Research innovative electrical design concepts.
● Define performance metrics and production criteria.
● Identify and select components needed for production.
● Produce final schematics and layout files.
● Negotiate appropriate production processes with suppliers.
● Develop test methods to validate product requirements.
● Investigate and evaluate new production processes that could be implemented in product development.
● Travel to production facilities to finalize designs, and assist in initial production builds.
● Provide clarity to the firmware, hardware, and mechanical teams in the areas of design, process, schedule and priorities. Develops and reinforces habits that maintain product development best practices.
● Perform engineering design evaluations and works to complete projects within resource, budget, and scheduling constraints.
● Support product management in estimation of timelines and plans to successfully reach project goals.
PREFERRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:
● Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
● 4+ years experience as an Electrical Engineer (medical or consumer electronics and electro-mechanical interfacing experience preferred).
● Experience with board layout and schematic design (proficiency in Altium Designer preferred).
● Experience designing mixed signal PCBs (RF, Analog, ultra-low noise, battery powered devices).
● Experience with electrical prototyping, debug, and board bringup.
● Experience with embedded firmware development in C.
● Willingness to learn and grow to become a better engineer.
● Dependable, self-reliant, and motivated team player.
● Openness to re-think standard points of view to find new solutions.
● Strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
