About the role
LNG Trader
What you'll do
1. Trade Negotiation,
- Negotiate with counterparties and participate in tenders for physical cargo transactions. Break down the conditions in detail including but not limited to Key Term Sheet, Confirmation and MSPA. Execute deals under the direction of the Head.
- Structure the deal including physical terms and hedging strategies.
- Lead deal negotiations / communications with Chinese counterparties.
2. Support Execution and Strategy Development
- Monitor the daily energy market and support trade execution under the direction of the Head.
- Participate in discussions with Originators and Sumitomo affiliate European Gas Desk to develop transactions in line with GasLink's strategy and assist LNG trade executions under the direction of the Head. This includes necessary research on the Atlantic market and trading partners. Engage with counterparties, identify their potential needs, and make specific proposals.
3. Communication and Collaboration
- Communicate with Sumitomo and affiliate LNG-related Asian teams and work together to develop businesses.
- Communicate effectively with operators, legal, risk and back-office team to ensure reliable delivery, while also identifying optionality in physical trades to increase revenue.
- Discuss with Originators to assist in the detailed design of new trades, such as term trades and structured trades, to achieve future optimization.
4. Trade Calculations
- Calculate the profit potential, risks, and option value of each trading opportunity, providing information that can be used in trading decisions.
5. Position Management
- Manage daily paper and physical positions, considering the better balance of appropriate risk and return and support execution under the direction of the Head.
6. Establish the Framework
- Contribute to establishing the framework necessary for the smooth execution of global LNG transactions. This includes, but is not limited to, contributing to the establishment of the necessary trading systems and making recommendations on effective operational and risk management structures.
