About the Role

As a Business Development Representative (BDR) at Packback, you’ll play a critical role in shaping the future revenue success of our company. You’ll be on the frontlines, engaging in meaningful conversations with prospective college professors and administrators to introduce them to Packback. This role is ideal for individuals who are resilient, goal-driven, and eager to launch or grow their career in sales.

What You’ll Do

  • Generate new sales opportunities through cold calling, email, and social media outreach.
  • Schedule product demonstrations with professors, administrators, and key decision-makers.
  • Manage the sales process from lead generation to handoff to Account Executives.
  • Track progress and report against daily, weekly, and quarterly goals.
  • Collaborate with the sales team on strategic outreach initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate records in Salesforce and ensure Customer Relationship Management (CRM) compliance.
  • Research prospective accounts to identify the right targets who would benefit from Packback.
  • Utilize marketing automation tools to A/B test outbound campaigns.
  • Follow up promptly with inbound leads to drive engagement.
  • Leverage available resources (e.g., Salesforce, social media, news alerts) to strategically identify and engage target accounts.

What Success Looks Like

  • Meeting or exceeding monthly demo targets.
  • Achieving monthly outbound volume metrics.
  • Converting inbound leads effectively to meet conversion goals.

What We’re Looking For

  • At least 1 year of experience in a role that required resilience, time management, and strong communication skills (previous BDR experience is not required).
  • Passion for education and a desire to make an impact.
  • Ability to work in our Chicago office 3 days per week.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with cold calling, email outreach, and prospecting.
  • Familiarity with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software (Salesforce, Outreach.io, etc.).
  • Understanding of the Higher Education space (though a degree is not required).


Additional Information:

  • Sponsorship: Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S without the need for sponsorship. Packback does not offer visa sponsorship for this role. 
  • Location: You must be able to work from our Chicago Office 3 days per week.
  • Salary: The base salary for this role is $45,000, with an annual variable target of $20,000.
