About the role

  • The Head of Design serves as the global leader for the company’s creative function, responsible for defining and implementing the design strategy that supports all affiliate-marketing initiatives and business objectives. This role focuses on the long-term evolution of creative capabilities across markets, establishing frameworks, standards, and systems that enable distributed design teams to deliver high-performing visual work. This role partners closely with Leadership and cross-department stakeholders in Marketing, Product, and Data & BI to align creative direction with measurable performance goals. This role ensures that design contributes to business growth through innovation, operational scalability, and data-driven creative excellence.

This role can be based in Malta (hybrid) or remote within other European countries.


Roles & Responsibilities: 

  • Lead the strategic evolution of the company’s creative function, defining its long-term vision, priorities, and contribution to organizational performance.
  • Develop and implement the frameworks, standards, and systems that enable design teams to deliver efficient, high-quality creative work.
  • Establish global creative benchmarks and methodologies that guide design excellence.
  • Collaborate with Content, Product, and Data & BI leadership to translate business insights into creative strategies that enhance acquisition and engagement. 
  • Build the design department’s operating model, resource planning, technology stack, and process governance, to support scalable growth.
  • Drive innovation and capability development, identifying new tools, workflows, and training needs that improve the effectiveness of distributed design teams.
  • Provide mentorship and strategic guidance to design leads and managers.
  • Champion cross-department collaboration, ensuring creative work aligns with measurable outcomes and company priorities.
  • Monitor creative performance at a strategic level (quality metrics, delivery efficiency, impact on business goals) and recommend adjustments to structure or systems as needed.
  • Oversee budget planning and resource allocation at a departmental level, ensuring investment aligns with strategic priorities rather than individual project budgets.
  • Represent the design function in the leadership team, advocating for innovation, operational scalability, and continuous improvement.
  • Perform additional strategic duties or additional roles as assigned by the company.

Requirements:

Experience & Background

  • 8+ years of experience in design leadership, preferably within iGaming, fintech, or digital media organizations.
  • Proven success leading multidisciplinary design teams in fast-paced, data-driven environments.
  • Experience in building design systems, brand frameworks, and performance marketing creatives at scale.
  • Knowledge of Swedish/Danish/Norwegian language would be an asset.

Technical Skills:

  • Advanced proficiency in Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, and AI-based design tools (e.g., Midjourney, Sora, Runway, or Adobe Firefly).
  • Familiarity with A/B testing tools, performance-tracking dashboards, and data visualization platforms.
  • Understanding of front-end design considerations (UX/UI principles, responsive layouts, accessibility standards).
  • Familiarity with HTML/CSS fundamentals and collaboration tools like ClickUp, Asana, Miro, or Monday.com.

Leadership & Collaboration:

  • Exceptional ability to lead through influence, providing mentorship and direction to design leads and cross-functional partners.
  • Skilled at translating complex business insights into actionable creative strategies.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills with the capacity to collaborate effectively across marketing, product, and data teams.
