About the role
As the Offpage SEO Manager, you will own and reinvent our entire link acquisition strategy—from legacy link audits and disavow protocols to cutting-edge techniques including digital PR, data-driven outreach, brand mention optimization, and entity-based SEO. You will lead, build, and mentor a team, oversee global campaigns, and create SOPs for ongoing authority building at scale—while remaining agile and compliant in the ever-changing world of Google algorithm updates and iGaming regulations.
Roles & Responsibilities:
Link Profile Audit & Cleanup
- Conduct full audits of current backlink profiles across all domains using tools like Ahrefs, Majestic, SEMrush, and Link Detox.
- Identify and disavow toxic, irrelevant, or manipulative backlinks from legacy efforts.
- Establish backlink quality baselines and risk thresholds for each site or project.
- Create reporting structures to track link profile health on an ongoing basis.
Off-Page Strategy Leadership
- Design and implement a modern, future-proof off-page SEO strategy focused on:
- Editorial backlinks
- Digital PR campaigns
- High-authority niche placements
- Brand mentions and citations
- Entity-based link building
- Thought-leadership placements and podcast outreach
- Continuously evaluate and test emerging backlink techniques (e.g., HARO, AI-based outreach, programmatic PR).
Team Building & Vendor Oversight
- Recruit, lead, and mentor an international team of outreach specialists, content creators, and link prospecting analysts.
- Vet and manage third-party vendors, freelancers, and white-hat link providers.
- Build training modules, SOPs, and QA processes to ensure consistency and quality at scale.
Performance Tracking & ROI Analysis
- Define and track KPIs for off-page SEO: link velocity, link quality score, domain authority growth, brand mentions, and referral traffic.
- Implement real-time dashboards using tools like Google Looker Studio or Data Studio.
- Establish attribution models to correlate link acquisition with SERP movement, page-level authority, and revenue impact (e.g., FTDs, CPA).
Risk Mitigation & Compliance
- Ensure all link acquisition tactics adhere to Google’s Webmaster Guidelines and avoid footprintable patterns.
- Stay ahead of manual penalty trends, algorithm updates, and link spam detection evolutions.
- Build SOPs around link risk audits, including ongoing Penguin penalty prevention.
Brand-Aligned Digital PR
- Create data-driven campaigns that drive both links and brand equity (e.g., gambling behavior reports, expert interviews, infographic PR).
- Collaborate with in-house SEO and content teams to generate linkable assets: tools, surveys, guides, and reports
- Foster relationships with journalists, bloggers, influencers, and forums relevant to the iGaming space.
Innovation & Thought Leadership
- Serve as the internal subject-matter expert for all things off-page SEO and link authority
- Regularly present research, experiments, and industry insights to the executive team.
Attend and speak at SEO, gambling affiliate, and digital PR conferences as a brand ambassador.
Requirements:
Experience & Background
- 5–10+ years in SEO with a deep specialization in off-page and link building.
Proven success in building clean, high-authority backlink profiles in competitive verticals (preferably iGaming, finance, SaaS, or health). - Experience managing large teams and vendor ecosystems in a global context.
- Demonstrated ability to recover from or prevent manual penalties and algorithmic suppressions.
Technical & Strategic Skills
- Mastery of backlink analysis tools (Ahrefs, SEMrush, Majestic, Link Research Tools).
- Deep understanding of E-E-A-T, semantic SEO, and how Google evaluates entity authority.
- Strong command of Google Search Console, disavow files, and historical link assessment.
- Familiarity with SEO risk models, anchor text ratios, and link pattern analysis.
Nice to Have
- Experience in iGaming affiliate SEO or other highly regulated niches.
- Network of existing publisher relationships in gambling, casino, and sports betting.
- Familiarity with AI tools for content seeding, backlink prospecting, or PR automation.
- Experience with multilingual link acquisition or international SEO.
