About The Role


PartnerCo is seeking an entry-level to moderately experienced individual to fill the role of Indirect Tax Specialist. This position will report to the Tax Director. The Indirect Tax Specialist will primarily be responsible for assisting with PartnerCo’s Puerto Rico, U.S. and Europe indirect tax compliance, which includes completing Puerto Rico, U.S., and Europe indirect tax workpapers, coordinating the preparation of the related indirect tax returns and filings with third-party consultants based on those workpapers, providing indirect tax audit support, and researching Puerto Rico, U.S., and Europe indirect tax issues (sales tax, VAT, 1099s, T4A’s, Etc.) as needed. Due to the multinational nature of PartnerCo’s business, this position may also assist in other various global tax planning and compliance projects as needed.


Responsibilities

  • The management and preparation of all workpapers/documentation related to the Puerto Rico, U.S., and Europe indirect tax and 1099 compliance processes
  • Identifying and implementing workpaper and tax preparation process improvements
  • Tracking and resolving state sales tax and EU VAT notices
  • Preparation of needed data for state sales tax and EU VAT audits
  • Research tax planning and compliance issues as they arise and prepare explanatory/supporting memos
  • Assisting the Tax Director with U.S. and international tax issues as needed (customs and duties, transfer pricing, intercompany management fees, income tax provision, U.S. federal and state income tax return workpapers, etc.)

Minimum Qualifications

  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Bachelor’s degree in Tax, Accounting, or related field
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in order to communicate issues, solutions, and needs to members of other departments and outside parties
  • Ability to think strategically and solve problems

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1-2 years of business entity indirect tax compliance experience
  • Technical knowledge of U.S. and international activity tax reporting (direct tax, indirect tax, and duties), transfer pricing, and income tax provision

Flexible Work Arrangements

  • We prefer having this individual work from our office in Dorado, but we are also open to remote work with flexibility to come to the office as needed. (see below for more detail)
    • Office-based Work:
      • Ability to work in an office environment, including extended periods of sitting, typing, and computer use.
      • Mobility within the office to attend meetings, collaborate with colleagues, and access relevant documents or resources.
    • Remote Work:
      • Adequate home office setup, including a quiet and distraction-free workspace and high-speed internet access.
      • Familiarity with remote communication tools (e.g., video conferencing, collaboration platforms) to engage in virtual meetings and discussions.
