Medical Director

MEDICAL DIRECTOR

Reports To: 

Chief Operating Officer

FLSA Classification: 

1099 Independent Contractor

Hours: 

As needed; at least one hour per week

Pay Grade: 

$125 - $175 per hour

JOB SUMMARY:  

The Medical Director is charged with weekly consultations with the mental health team and overseeing drug testing and onsite Naloxone storage and administration at Partners Behavioral Healthcare.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Medical Director is responsible for ordering, reviewing and signing all drug test orders and results and ensuring compliance with all regulatory and professional guidelines.  


ESSENTIAL DUTIES: 

  • Oversee our Urine Analysis (UA) processes.
  • Provide consultation for Urine Analysis (UA) results.
  • Ensure compliance with Department of Human Services (DHS) and clinical board requirements and documentation.
  • Maintain communications about Partners Behavioral Healthcare and department goals, objectives, changes, expectations to the staff on their team.
  • Enforce adherence to the rules and regulations and expectations of all funding and government programs, payors, licensing entities and any other regulatory entities as required for client care.
  • Participate in and provide clinical perspective to strategic planning and annual planning.
  • Participate in a one-hour group consultation with mental health staff from complex license backgrounds including Psychologists, Licensed Family and Marriage Therapists, Social Workers, Licensed Professional Counselors, Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners, Clinical Trainees, and Interns on a weekly basis.
  • Advise on patient care and medical information during consultations.
  • Collaborate with Mental Health Clinical Director, Clinical Supervisors, and professional staff to provide insight and mentorship to Clinical Trainees and Interns regarding best practices.
  • Advise on medication management, drug interactions, and psychiatric support resources.
  • Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • 18 years of age or older. 
  • Must be an active licensed N.P., P.A., or M.D., in the state of Minnesota.  
  • 3-5 years’ experience as a Medical Director or being in a leadership position. 
  • Master’s degree from an accredited university in behavioral-health science or related field. 
  • Knowledge and understanding of implications of parts 9530.6405 to 9530.6505, 9543.1000 to 9543.1060, and Minnesota Statutes, chapter 245A, and sections 626.556, 626.557, and 626.5572.   
  • Knowledge and understanding of implications of MN Statures 245.462 and 256B.0757. Rules 9505.0370 through 3505.371, subp.5, item D. MN statutes 256B.0625, subd. 20, 245.461 to 245.468, 245.487 to 245.4887, and Minnesota Rules 9505.0322, and 9520.0900 to 9520.0926.  Minnesota Statutes 256B.0943and 256B.0623. 256B.02, subdivision 7, paragraphs (b) and (c) and the MN MHCP provider manual for mental health services. 
  • Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS) Background Study clearance. 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Knowledge of Procentive software. 
  • 5+ years’ experience as a Medical Director or being in a leadership position. 
  • Experience with management skills, quality improvement, and managing a care program.  

CONTINUED EDUCATION AND TRAINING: 

  • Complete continuing education courses in current treatment concepts and methods as required by the State of Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS) and/or State Licensing Boards.  
  • Stay current regarding professional research, techniques, theories, and ethics.
