QA Engineer

The Role

As our Founding QA Engineer, you’ll build and own the systems that ensure our AI agents, integrations, and platform work flawlessly for every customer. You’ll design and execute test plans, write automation and regression tests, manage the bug backlog, and gate our daily release cycle. This is a hands-on role that blends technical testing, process creation, and proactive quality management - perfect for someone who wants to define QA from the ground up at a fast-moving AI startup.


This role will be required to be in-office at our Brooklyn, NY location.


What You’ll Do

  • Own release testing and quality gates - approving daily releases and ensuring that new builds meet reliability and functional standards.
  • Develop and maintain test automation for key features and integrations using tools like Playwright or Cypress.
  • Manually test major new features and customer flows, creating detailed checklists and regression suites.
  • Proactively identify and reproduce AI agent failures, including testing phone and text conversations with customers’ AI agents to ensure natural, accurate, and compliant interactions. Log and track issues to resolution. 
  • Own the bug backlog - prioritize, communicate with engineering, and ensure critical issues are resolved before release.
  • Collaborate with support to reproduce customer issues and document reproducibility steps; act as backup for the support team during spikes or outages.
  • Write and maintain test plans and release checklists for new features and major releases.
  • Continuously improve QA processes - implement structure, automation coverage, and visibility into product quality metrics.

Education/Experience

  • 3-5+ years of experience in QA engineering or software testing, ideally within SaaS or startup environments.
  • Proven experience in both manual and automated testing - comfortable building and maintaining test suites.
  • Strong understanding of web app testing, including APIs, integrations, and conversational AI flows (voice and text). Experience with Next.js is a plus.
  • Familiarity with tools like Playwright, Cypress, Postman, or similar frameworks.
  • Ability to write clear, reproducible bug reports and manage a structured backlog.
  • Organized and detail-oriented, with a bias toward process and follow-through.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate cross-functionally with support, product, and engineering teams.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced startup where you’ll define many of the standards yourself.
  • Experience testing AI or automation systems, preferred.
  • Exposure to customer-facing support or debugging workflows, preferred.
  • Familiarity with Zendesk or similar support platforms, preferred.
