The right candidate for this position is someone with extensive experience in Safety who will support our projects. This person will constantly be responsible for successfully integrating safety initiatives into the functional operation of the different projects by maintaining processes and procedures to prevent injuries and violations of the law or company policies and minimize the environmental impact of our operations.
About the role
The PMO Project Executive/Sponsor is a senior leadership role within the Executive operations/Project Management group responsible for overseeing the planning, execution, and delivery of steel fabrication and erection projects within Patriot’s portfolio. This role leads the development and execution of project management standards, ensures alignment with company goals, and drives project performance across safety, quality, schedule, and budget. The PMO Project Executive plays a critical role in delivering successful outcomes while supporting Patriot’s mission, values, and long-term growth objectives.
What you'll do
Essential Duties (other duties may be assigned):
· Lead and manage the strategic direction and operational management of the Project Management Office (PMO) for assigned divisional steel fabrication and erection projects.
· Establish and enforce standardized project management processes, tools, and reporting frameworks.
· Oversee project planning, scheduling, cost controls, quality assurance, and risk management efforts.
· Direct a portfolio of projects from preconstruction through closeout, ensuring consistency, alignment, and accountability across all project teams. This could be a single project or multiple projects depending on the requirements of the business. These project assignments will generally be for projects outside of an assigned regional division.
· Act as the escalation point for critical project issues, scope changes, or schedule risks.
· Partner with cross-functional leaders in fabrication, erection, engineering, safety, and quality to ensure coordination and performance.
· Drive reporting and communication on project progress, financial health, and operational performance to senior leadership and stakeholders.
· Develop and mentor divisional managers, project managers, assistant project managers, coordinators, and other project personnel supporting growth in technical skill, leadership, and project ownership.
· Collaborate with estimating and preconstruction to ensure seamless project handoffs and alignment on scope, schedule, and resources.
· Analyze project data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for continuous improvement across the PMO function.
Key Responsibilities:
· Project Governance: Implement and maintain best-in-class PMO frameworks, aligning project execution with corporate standards and objectives.
· Portfolio Oversight: Manage a portfolio of active and upcoming steel-related construction projects, ensuring prioritization, resource optimization, and performance tracking.
· Financial Accountability: Lead project budgeting, forecasting, cost control, and margin protection across the portfolio.
· Client & Stakeholder Engagement: Maintain strong relationships with clients, general contractors, subcontractors, and vendors throughout the project lifecycle.
· Risk Management: Identify risks early and implement mitigation strategies to avoid project delays, safety incidents, or budget overruns.
· Operational Integration: Coordinate closely with internal departments to ensure efficient delivery and consistency from fabrication to field execution.
· Performance Metrics: Create and maintain dashboards and reporting tools to track progress, identify red flags, and support data-driven decisions.

Education/Experience:
· Proven experience as a construction project leader with a strong background in steel structures who has a track record of establishing scalable systems, leading high-performing teams, and ensuring disciplined execution across all project phases.
· Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, Business, or related field.
· PMP or similar project management certification required.
· Minimum 15 years of experience in construction project management, with direct expertise in steel fabrication and erection.
· Proven track record managing large-scale construction portfolios and implementing PMO systems.
· Experience with project controls, scheduling software, and cost forecasting.
· High attention to detail, accuracy, and ability to meet deadlines.
· Excellent communication and organizational skills.
· Knowledge of lien laws, subcontractor documentation, and vendor compliance requirements.

Technical Skills
Certificates and Licenses: PMP or related project management certification.

The pay range for this role is:
